Friday Flyer
Second Grade
Dear Second Grade Parents,
Two exciting events happened this week. We had author/illustrator Bonnie Shemie (who is the great-aunt of a current Third Grader) visit us to talk about her Native Dwellings books that we read for our Native American Studies curriculum. The children had the opportunity to ask her questions and she signed copies of her books for the CHS library! Please check out the photos from Bonnie's visit below.
The students also learned what their states are for State Hats Day. The "big reveal" is always met with enthusiasm! We hope you received the information sheet explaining your role with creating state hats and preparing state snacks. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Book Clubs
- Mrs. Kaufman: A to Z Mysteries: The Absent Author (focus on reading synopsis to get information about the book and main idea of story)
- Ms. Holzer: Race the Wild: Rainforest Relay (focus on prediction and reason for the prediction; collecting rainforest facts)
- Mrs. King: Tortilla Sun (focus on using glossary to interpret Spanish words in the book)
Have a great weekend,
Emilia and Rachel
