TCE School Directory
The online school directory is now available to all families in Skyward. This year the directory is based on an opt-in model. Families must choose to show their contact information in order to be visible in the directory.
To opt-in, click on "My Account" in the upper right corner of your Family Access account. From there, check the boxes for the information you wish to make visible under the School Directory section and then Save. Families can make changes to this section anytime throughout the school year.
Box Tops For Education
First Grade Homework
Reading Homework: You will see that they should read for at least 30 minutes throughout the week. Write the number of minutes in the box along with the parent's initials.
Spelling Homework: Our test for these words will be on Friday, September 11. Students should practice their words at least twice a week. (You are always welcome to practice more times though.) Please write the name of the activity your child did to practice their words as well as a parent's initials. Practice pages do NOT need to returned to school. There are spelling suggestions on the back of the calendar, but you can choose the best way for your child to study their words.
Math Homework: Students should practice their math facts at least twice throughout the week. They can practice with flashcards, an app, practice timed test, or any other way you would like. Please write the name of the activity your child did to practice their math facts as well as a parent's initials.
Background Checks & Anti-bullying Video
If you want to volunteer, chaperone field trips, or eat lunch in the cafeteria, guests must have an approved background check on file and complete the Anti-bullying video. Background checks are good for 3 years. If you have questions about your background check, contact the TCE office.
Here is the link for the background check and video...

Snack Attack provides TCE students in need with a sack of healthy snacks to take home on Fridays to help them through the weekend until they can return to school on Monday for a hot meal.
Our Dad’s Club is sponsoring our Snack Drive starting Monday, Aug 24th. Please consider donating individually wrapped snack items. Bins will be located outside of the school office. Suggested items include: granola bars, pudding, popcorn, fruit cups, crackers, etc.
If your child is in need and would appreciate receiving these weekly bags of snacks, please contact our school counselor, Mrs. Jackie Fiesbeck, at 594-4310 or firstname.lastname@example.org. The recipients of Snack Attack remain confidential.
It’s a great day to be a Cardinal and support our students! Thank you for considering a donation of a snack item to our Snack Drive!
Our Curriculum for Next Week....
Reading - We will continue on building relationships with the books we read by thinking about, sharing, retelling and discussing them. We still are working on choosing a "just right book" and learning the procedures for our Reading Workshop. We will also be working on retelling. This will help students answer the question "What does my teacher want to know when she says tell me about the story."
Writing - We will be working on editing our work, paying close attention to capital letters at the beginning, punctuation at the end of sentences, always using a capital letter I, using finger spacing, and beginning to use our dictionary to help us spell unknown words.
Math - We will be working on graphing (picture graphs, bar graphs, and tally graphs).
