A Word with Ron
Superintendent Stephens Has a Message for You
BCS Community:
As we close out the month of September, I want to recognize and thank you for an outstanding start to the school year. Since August, we have experienced challenges in our classrooms and school offices as a result of a statewide move of the student information system to WVEIS 2.0.
The transition to WVEIS 2.0 has touched every single student, family and staff member across BCS, and I want to say thank you for hanging in there while this transition continues. I also thank those who are answering phone calls and emails working to troubleshoot general and very specific occurrences of the transition. I value and appreciate the BCS community and its determination to work as a team for the benefit of our students and each other.
Finally, I am reminded of the geographic comfort and protection we experience living in Berkeley County as I watch the devastation unfold from Hurricane Ian. I know children, families and school staff in affected areas will be faced with many challenges in the months ahead, as their school districts try to recover from damage and loss. Like you, I am concerned for them and their road ahead and continue to keep them in my thoughts.
Whatever you have planned for the weekend, I hope if brings you time to reflect and unwind. When Monday arrives, it will be a new month with a few academic milestones to note:
Friday, October 7: 2 Hour Early Dismissal for Faculty Senate Meetings
Monday, October 10: Professional Learning Day. No school for students
Tuesday, October 18: End of first nine weeks
Tuesday, October 25: Report cards available
Thank you again for your support, teamwork and cooperation. The BCS community is simply the best!
