Staff Spotlight! Get to know your LMS Staff!
Jackie Mejia, Nurse
Place of Birth: Santa Monica
Years at Lincoln: 5
Favorite Educator: My favorite educator was my 9th grade history teacher, Mr. Rodriguez, but we all called him Mr. Rod. I remember being excited to attend his class because he would make the lessons fun and interactive. He always kept it real and created a safe space for his students to express themselves. He was also the softball coach, so when they had candy fundraisers he would give us full size candy when we got answers right.
Fun Fact: As a kid I grew up wanting to become either a nurse or teacher. All throughout nursing school I intended to pursue a career in the OR (operating room) or NICU (neonatal intensive care unit), but ended up changing my career path during my very last class of nursing school where I precepted as a school nurse at SAMOHi. My preceptor at the time, Nurse Nora, was going to be retiring at the end of school year and thought I was a good fit. It must've been fate that I ended up as a school nurse, where I now get to be a health care professional in an educational setting. P.S. I was also my son's school nurse, but I think I enjoyed it more than he did ;) The picture is from his LMS promotion June 2022.
Gevin T. A. Wallace, Teacher
Years at Lincoln: 13
Favorite Educator: Mary Hirt- State teacher of the year, district teacher of the year, National teacher of the year and shook President George Bush SR's Hand.
Fun Fact: I was signed to the MCA record Label, been featured on the Discovery channel, was featured at Sony and HBO with a video that was eligible for academy award nomination and been featured in LA Times, People magazine and the Today Show.

Breakfast Club!
Every Friday!
Parents, every Friday our PTSA will be selling morning treats to our students to help fundraise for our 8th grade activities. Please help support our efforts and enjoy some tasty treats!
Weekend Bag Program
The Weekend Bag Program (WeB) will provide SMMUSD students experiencing weekend food insecurity with nutritious, easy-to- prepare bags of food containing 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 2 snacks for the weekends. The Fall 2023 startup date is September 29th. The Weekend Bag Program will serve students whose families have special situations resulting in food insecurity in the home. Student names are not identified to Weekend Bag Program volunteers to ensure participant privacy. Bags are packed by volunteers with enough shelf-stable food (including UHT milk) for breakfast, lunch and snacks for two days, and then brought to the schools. Participating students pick up the food bags, usually from the school office, and stick them in their backpacks after school on Fridays. The menus have been evaluated by a dietitian to meet federal school nutrition standards and provide a balance of healthy, nutritious non-perishable foods. Families wishing to enroll their students should contact our school’s Bilingual Community Liaison, Nallely Gutierrez, n.gutierrez@smmusd.org, 310 393-9227 x73105 and fill out a Program opt-in form.
Sprit Week!
Here are some photos and highlights from Spirit Week! I want to thank all our staff and students for participating! Our Lions showed their school spirit and ROARED!
