Congratulations Skyview Science Olympiad!
Congratulations to the Science Olympiad teams from Skyview that participated in Science Olympiad Regionals and made it to the state-level competition!
Science Olympiad competitions include 23 topics split among team members that include earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, engineering, and technology. Students show their knowledge in these topics by taking exams, conducting science labs, and building models that are judged.
This year two teams from Skyview Middle School participated in Science Olympiad Regionals under the guidance of Ms. Kull. Team Diamond placed ninth and Team Sapphire placed tenth across twenty-seven teams from the region that participated in this event. Both of these teams will now be moving to the state-level competition which will be held in Cheney, Washington. Wish them luck!
SMS Administrative Staff News
Ebonisha Washington has been selected for a new leadership opportunity within the Northshore School District. On Monday, March 6th, Ebonisha was introduced to the Bear Creek Campus staff as their Assistant Principal on Special Assignment. Ebonisha's previous experiences as an assistant principal, her special education background, and her passion for centering students in her work will be a great support to our Bear Creek community.
I will always be thankful for the work Ebonisha has done at SMS supporting our school's transition back to in-person learning, her commitment to our students furthest from educational justice, the support for our A.S.B. program, and her great sense of humor.
In order to provide support for our students and staff, Mike Cosgrove will serve in the role of Assistant Principal here at SMS through the month of March. Mike is a retired principal that has also taken on long-term substitute positions within the Northshore School District. Mike has been of great help this week and I am appreciative of the support he is providing the Skyview Family.
Sincerely,
Matt Wallace

SMS Technology Reminder
Skyview families:
This is a reminder that all students need to bring their school-issued computer to school daily. Currently, too many students are relying on borrowing a device for the day at school and we run out of machines daily.
Please work with your student to make sure they bring their charged computer each day! Said a different way: it's not OK for any student to think "I'll just borrow one at school so I won't bother bringing mine today."
Thank you in advance for teaming with us to make sure all students bring their devices to school daily.

Sign up in the main office and pick up the required parent permission form. The week of participation is free but an ASB membership of $30 is required if you don’t already have one. We look forward to seeing you in the gym!

Covid Cases
The Department of Health (DOH) requires schools to inform families and students of COVID-19 cases and potential outbreaks. This week, there were a total of 3 confirmed cases at our school. The accuracy of our data depends on self-reporting. Thank you for continuing to let the school know if your child tests positive for COVID-19. To view additional information, including school and district trends visit the District’s COVID-19 data dashboard. The dashboard is updated weekly on Monday evenings.
If your child is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 please keep them home and test for COVID-19. Families can order free COVID-19 tests from the state. Together, we can keep our schools healthy and safe.
