Principal's Weekly Update

Volume 2 Issue 25: January 31, 2021

Message from Mrs. Aulmer

We would like to say "Thank You" to all of our students and families who participated in our School Choice Week activities last week. We are excited that you have chosen to partner with QCSS in your child's educational experience.

A big shout out to our kindergarten and first grade students! In celebration of Groundhog Day, many of our kindergarten and first grade students came together to sing “Here’s a Little Groundhog”. Whether Spring comes early, or Winter sticks around, these singers will surely turn any frown upside down!

Please enjoy their first virtual performance by clicking below (look closely, there are a few guest appearances as well):

We would also like to do a class shout out to Ms. Tucker's Kindergarten class. They are participating in a Reading Bowl and the students are rocking the bowl with the number of minutes they have been putting in. Keep up the great reading!

Week one they read for 1,957 minutes

Week two they read for 2,056 minutes

We are now accepting applications for K-11th grade for next school year. If you have any family or friends who are interested in attending Queen City STEM School for next year, please ask them to visit our website at and apply for our lottery. Our lottery will be held on February 15, 2021.

Thank you for your continued partnership with QCSS as we work to make this a successful year for all of our scholars! I hope everyone continues to stay safe and healthy.

Intent to Return Forms

Every scholar at QCSS has the opportunity to inform the school, prior to the lottery date, if they intend to return for the next school year or not. These forms were sent out via email and were due last Friday. If you have not signed your intent to return please reach out to Ms. Williams by noon, Monday, February 1st.

**As of today we still have 83 students that we have not heard from.

**If we don't hear from you then you will not have a "space" reserved for you for next school year.

Lion in the Spotlight

We wanted to begin spotlighting our staff members so that our students and families could begin putting some faces with some names and to get to know our staff. Please see this week's Lion's of the Week, below.

This week we are highlighting Ms. Bethea (1st grade teacher), Ms. Wilburn (4th grade teacher), Ms. Bagley (guidance counselor).

Digital Portrayal of QCSS

As I searched for Queen City STEM School on the internet it came to my attention that we don't have any recent reviews of our school. We would like a true digital portrayal of what we really are, the things that we do for students at our schools, the amazing parental support, the hard work, and dedication of our students, families, and staff, etc.

If you believe that we are doing something good and doing our best to make a difference in the lives of our students please go to the links below and write a review of QCSS. I would like to state that we do not want anyone to feel compelled to write a good review, but if you do, please consider completing one. We would like to see a balanced portrayal of our school in the online world.

1. Google Reviews: Please just simply google "Queen City STEM School." You will see the Google descriptions of our school on the right pane. You can click on "write review" to write reviews for Google.
