Mrs. Greene's 3rd Grade
January 15, 2018
A Great Week!
We eased back into the routine of 3rd grade very nicely! I was proud of how hard the students worked and the attention they gave during teaching time!
Next week is NWEA (MAP) Testing week. We will take the reading portion of the test on Tuesday and Wednesday from 12:45-1:30 (January 16 and 17). We take the Math portion of the test at the end of January.
I sent a SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDER home last week to help get students excited about reading. Who doesn't love a new book. Scholastic always has great selections at a very low price. You can order online or use the paper order form. Please send a check made payable to Scholastic Books if using the paper method. The order is due Tuesday, January 16.
Report cards will be sent Tuesday, January 16 due to the snow day we had Friday!
Don't forget, I am always available to meet with you to discuss your child's progress or address any questions or concerns you may have. Call or email if you'd like to request a meeting.
Looking forward to a GREAT week next week!
Enjoy your weekend...

Around Room 9...
Some of the topic ideas we came up with are:
Famous person, music, disasters, hobbies (drawing, horseback riding, baking), places in the US and around the world, sports, transportation, volunteering, careers, plants, animals, weather, restaurants, authors, how to make..., technology, inventions, robots, etc...
The students are very motivated to learn due to the choices they have. It is wonderful to see the level of engagement that happens during this time. Be sure to ask your child what he/she is learning about during SSL Time.
