Feast of Favorites
On Monday, November 21st, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving with a Feast of Favorites! Please click on the link below to contribute.
Math
Mrs. Close's Class ~ The kids have been super busy learning and practicing the steps in long division. They are doing very well with the process. Next week I'll give the students the Topic E quiz and then we'll move into Topic F; factoring and prime/composite numbers. The kids took their first CML competition this week too. Please look for those to come home in next week's Friday Folders. November 15th will be their very first Math Olympiad (MO) competition!
ELA
The students have put their research together and worked in small groups to create posters on Hudson, Champlain, Verrazano, and Cabot. Next week, the small groups will present their posters to the class!
Next week, the kids will draft the opening to their fiction pieces. Their task is to is to create a story that tells the story of a make believe explorer who discovers an unknown place. This should be fun!
Visiting with Veterans
We had two veterans visit us in our classroom today. Mr. Kruger and Mr. Kemp shared so many interesting things with the class. In turn, the kids asked great questions. Thank you to Mr. Kruger, Mr. Kemp, and all the other men and women who have served our country!
Science
Corrected tests have been put in Friday Folders. Overall, the kids did very well with the plant material. Next week we'll switch gears to the animal part of life! We'll have snails and crayfish join our classroom!
