Grade-Level Caregiver Orientations 👋
Get important information at your child's caregiver orientation.
This year, we will have caregiver orientations by grade level. This is a great opportunity to get information about the upcoming school year and get a head start on filling out important forms. Families who attend caregiver orientations will also receive their child's car rider tags or bus route information.
Kindergarten Students
If your child is participating in Kindergarten Camp, your orientation will occur from 9-11 AM on the day that you bring your child to Kindergarten Camp. The dates are as follows:
- Ms. Meador's Class will be July 25th
- Ms. Aubrey's Class will be July 26th
- Mr. Hall's Class will be July 27th
- Ms. O'Brien's Class will be July 28th
All Other Grades
The remaining grade levels will attend caregiver orientation on the following dates. Orientations will begin at 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., so parents can choose the time that best fits their schedules:
- First Grade Orientation will be July 31st, at 3:00 PM and 4:00 p.m.
- Second Grade will be August 1st, at 3:00 PM and 4:00 p.m.
- Third Grade will be August 2nd, at 3:00 PM and 4:00 p.m.
- Fourth Grade will be August 3rd, at 3:00 PM and 4:00 p.m.
- Fifth Grade will be August 4th, at 3:00 PM and 4:00 p.m.
Please arrive on the hour so you can hear the entire presentation. If you have multiple students, please just select the date and time that works best for you. All sessions contain the same information, so do not feel obligated to attend multiple sessions.
Join Us at the Back to School Bash! 🌞
Let's kick off the new school year in style!
Join us on Monday, August 7 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. for our Back to School Bash! This is a great opportunity to meet Auburndale staff and celebrate the start of our new school year. We will have a DJ, an Auburndale t-shirt giveaway, and a chance to have popsicles with our principal Karen Topping!
Important Updates 📌
We have some exciting updates for the 2023-2024 school year! Read below for more information on our new school start time, transportation changes, and uniform policy.
New School Start Time ⏰
Auburndale Elementary's New School Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 2:40 p.m.
Our school day at Auburndale Elementary will be starting earlier this year, beginning at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 2:40 p.m. This change is a part of Jefferson County Public School's Start Smart Program, a comprehensive restructuring of schedules across the entire school district. To read more about the district's new start time plan, visit the JCPS Start Smart website.
Transportation Changes 🚌
New School Bus Routes available Monday, July 24th.
It is very likely that your child's school bus route will be changing as a result of our new school start time. Please make sure to verify your updated bus route, which will be posted on Monday, July 24th on the JCPS Bus Finder website.
First Day of School Information
Families who attend Caregiver Orientations (see above for details) will receive their child's car rider tags or bus route information. School staff will also discuss our new way to report absences and changes of transportation at the orientations. Auburndale will no longer be accepting any changes of transportation over the phone.
Waiting for Car Rider Dismissal begins at 2:10 p.m.
Arrival to wait for your child to be dismissed at 2:40 p.m. will begin at 2:10 p.m. each day, 30 minutes prior to dismissal. Please do not arrive before 2:10 p.m. to prevent traffic flow back-up. We are working with the district to extend our car rider loop, but we will need your support in making this be as efficient as possible in the meantime.
New Dress Code Policy 👕
Update: Auburndale is now a non-uniform school.
Auburndale families and staff members voted last school year to no longer require students to wear uniforms to school. As a result, we will adopt a new dress code policy for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. Use the visual guide below to learn more about our new dress code policy.
