KCS GT Update May 2021
Greetings!
What's Happening in GT?
3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students were given a GT Post Competency Assessment. This assessment addressed specific learning related to each of our grade-level competencies. Your child's responses have provided great feedback for our department as we grow and change.
GT small groups will not be meeting during the month of May. Students will still have multiple options for enrichment placed in their Canvas courses with all necessary directions for these options to be completed independently. These modules will be asynchronous for the remainder of the year.
The GT Department will be working on developing program services and participating in system-wide work during the month of May.
We will be sending out a June and July Smore with resources. Please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's GT coach. Have a great summer!

Staying Connected
KCS GT Department
The KCS Gifted and Talented department strives to create a SAFE environment for each other, our teachers, students, schools and parents where we value Support, Advocacy, Flexibility, and Empathy.
As instructional coaches, we will meet each teacher where they are as we seek to create a SHIFT in service delivery and instructional practice in order for every teacher to feel confident in providing challenging and engaging instruction requiring students to persevere through complex tasks.
As gifted practitioners, we will meet each student where they are as we seek to create a SHIFT in student efficacy in order for every student to feel confident in participating in complex tasks, advocating for themselves, and utilizing a growth mindset.
