Infographics
"An infographic is different than just drawing a picture or finding an image that somehow embodies the lesson or information a student is learning. An infographic is way to “cut through the red tape” of visual processing, and they are actually proven to improve retention.
When we use infographics in your classroom, we’re giving students the chance to process and interpret symbols faster than they could process what we write or what we say. (An image can be processed and assigned meaning in about 250ms). Depending on the age of our students, assigning a “picture value” to a concept can help them absorb it faster than only reading or listening. Our brains are wired to take information from our visual centers, after all."

Also, please be mindful that annual ARD forms will continue to be sent by individual case managers. Please make sure to note the students present levels with as much data as possible.
Again, the progress notes and annual ARD form are two separate forms that require your attention.
Literacy
We have started adding student created words to the hallway word walls! This is one of the ultimate goals for our Oakwood hallway word walls. In order to continue this, we need students creating words. This is a little difficult for me to do, since I only see a handful of students at a time. So I’m hoping to get into success classes to start facilitating this process. If you are willing to “donate” one of your success class periods to generating vocabulary for the word walls, we could really get this project moving a lot faster. Don’t worry, all you need to do is volunteer to help, I will do all of the preparations.
Please continue to add to the list of content area academic language vocabulary words here or send me an e-mail.

Each staff member needs to write their own reflection to reflect their growth as a questioner, as well as students' growth.

As we plan for next year I offer to you all the chance for input. Please discuss in your teams any ideas you have for the next year. We see the changes we brought thus far are succeeding and many came from teacher suggestions first. Please let me know what I can do better, with duty posts or any day to day procedures.
