Southview Elementary School
Sara Denure, Southview Elementary Principal, presented about English Language Arts (ELA) learning that is taking place at Southview. Ms. Denure shared that elementary students are spending 15,120 minutes per school year learning ELA while using the Wit & Wisdom and Fundations curriculum. Cece, Nico, Kynlea, Grayson, and Augustine are third and fourth graders that shared some of their favorite things about ELA and some challenges that they have encountered this year. Southview students are also using calming corners and learning breathing techniques to help them calm down when they are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or upset. Cece, Nico, Kynlea, Grayson, and Augustine demonstrated the breathing techniques that are utilized at Southview. (see photo); click here for more details.
Future Business Leaders of America
The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Regional Leadership Conference (RLC) is being held at the Chippewa Falls Senior High School on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024. The Chippewa Falls chapter is hosting the event, because Gabrielle Peterson is currently serving as the Region 1 Vice President. The RLC is a major aspect of FBLA that helps showcase students' abilities. Those who do well at regionals, then move on to the state competition. It will be an all day event that includes competitive events, workshops, objective tests, presentations, and voting for the next FBLA Region 1 officers. The regional planning team includes Gabrielle Peterson, Makenzie Makar, Lucas Prokopinski, Austin Kruger, and Allison Schwab. Focus On Results and Monitoring Operational Performance

Sue Kern, Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction, provided an overview of the R-2.1.a ELA Academic Performance monitoring report; the Board agreed that the District has made reasonable progress with noted exceptions on monitoring report R-2.1.a; click here to view the report.

Consideration of 2024 Proposed WASB Resolutions
Sherry Jasper, Board Clerk & WASB Delegate, provided an overview of the 2024 proposed WASB Resolutions that will be voted on at the 2024 Delegate Assembly on January 18, 2024. The Board agrees to allow Board Clerk and WASB Delegate Sherry Jasper the ability to vote upon those resolutions as discussed during the December Board meeting; click here for more details.

Booster Club Fitness Center Update
Steve Olson provided an update on the planning of the booster club fitness center project; Jeff Holmes and Chad Trowbridge provided an overview of the grant agreement from Chippewa County; the Board approved the agreement provided by the County as presented; click here for details.

Early Compensation Study Findings - District Support/Classified/Hourly Staff
Tim Johnson, Executive Director of Human Resources & Public Relations, provided an overview of the early compensation study findings for district support/classified/hourly staff. The next compensation committee meeting will be held in January.
Tim Johnson, Executive Director of Human Resources & Public Relations, and Chad Trowbridge, Executive Director of Business Services & Finance, provided an overview of the staffing and budget timeline.
Jeff Holmes, Sue Kern, and Chad Trowbridge discussed how the JrROTC visit went on November 30th. The District is still in discussions about how this program could be implemented into our curriculum.
Budget Follow Up and Consider Superintendent's Proposal
Jeff Holmes, Superintendent of Schools, provided a proposal to the Board that began the conversation around placing an operational referendum on the April 2, 2024 election ballot. The Board will schedule a special meeting for January 10, 2024 to discuss more details.
