Superintendent's message

Good morning everyone,

I hope everyone had a great weekend and got plenty of rest. The first week back from a two week break can be taxing sometimes. I also hope everyone is well as there are a lot of germs in the air this time of year. I know what you do everyday and also know the importance of being on your "A" game every time you walk into your classroom or work environment because of the challenges you will face.

Thank you for all you do each and everyday because I know we are making a difference in our students lives! A quality education can be a life changer for our students and we always need to maintain proper perspective so we can make that happen.

Have a Great week!

School Board Appreciation Month 2020

We are celebrating School Board Appreciation Month! It is always in January, and it is a great time to show appreciation to our hard-working school board members. Our LISD School Board works very hard to make sure that our schools are in tip-top shape, that our educators are backed with awesome teaching experiences, and that our students get the best education around! Thank you, LISD School Board for "Launching the Next Generation!"

National Law Enforcement Officers Day

LISD celebrated National Law Enforcement Officers Day! We are so lucky to have officers that have chosen a profession that puts their life on the line every day for our safety. They've answered a call to public service that is demanding and often unappreciated. We send out a huge "Thank You" to each of them for their service and offer a token of our respect and support for all that they do to keep LISD safe!

Prickly Picklely Purple Pies Prepare for Perfection

The LHS DI Team was spotted practicing with Merribeth Gregory on their day off! DI has impacted LISD students with invaluable 21st-century skills, creative outlets, and the confidence needed to succeed in school, their careers and beyond. Students participate in project-based challenges that are designed to build confidence and develop extraordinary creativity. They learn critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills that are needed to be successful in the workforce. DI focuses on learning and hands-on STEAM concepts, teaches students how to think, not what to think, energizes students to own all decisions, creations and results, motivates teamwork and celebrates diversity. LISD has DI Teams from K through grade 12. Watch this spring for DI Teams to pop up in their competitions! Stay tuned!

MS GT Class Connects with Community

Middle School students in Cathie McMahan's Gifted and Talented class are studying photography and assembling a portfolio that will show their best work and photography capabilities. They toured LouDee's Floral and took still life images of plants while learning from J'Lyn Poage. Thank you, Mrs. McMahan, for connecting students to a great opportunity in Levelland!

Decade Day at Capitol

Capitol Elementary welcomed 2020 by celebrating Decade Day and hosting their Six Week Assemblies. Students were recognized for Perfect Attendance, All A Honor Roll, and Good Character. Two students in each grade level won a bike donated by the Rotary Club, and two others won cash money by "Jumping for George." Students having an All A average were also recognized. Teachers rewarded one student as their Kid with Character and one student in each grade was recognized by Mrs. Sanders as the "Lobo Warrior" for always having good sportsmanship. What a great celebration on making sure students are recognized for putting out the extra effort at school!
