YHS Scheduling: incoming freshmen
YHS Guidance: scheduing for the 2023-24 school year
High school scheduling
Incoming freshmen will have an opportunity to select an elective class to supplement their academic program at the high school. This newsletter will provide you with links and information about freshman elective options. Please review the online 9th grade course directory as well as the choices available to you in the 9th grade course selection sheet (see links in this newsletter).
Freshman schedules allow room to select one elective. Academic classes (English, social studies, math, science, world language, husker discovery, physical education) will be prescheduled. Placement decisions in academics will be made at a later date.
What do I need to do now?
Step 1: Review 9th grade course directory
Step 2: Watch slide presentation video
Step 3: Print the course selection sheet
Step 4: Meet with visiting counselor to select your high school elective for 9th grade
Every effort will be made to schedule students in one of their elective choices. Academic courses take precedence over elective courses. In the event an elective class cannot be scheduled, we will do our best to select from the alternative options.

How do I best prepare for my scheduling meeting with the visiting counselor?
What if I change my mind after my meeting with the visiting counselor?
However, students who wish to change their elective course selections should email scheduling2027@yorktown.org by May of this school year.
