√ADAM ESTES/Wentzville Middle School
I've been teaching at Wentzville Middle School for the past 13 years. I taught 7th grade Math and ELA for 12 years and currently teach Horizons and Accelerated Math. I would be honored to represent the middle school teachers on the District PDC Representation Team and help to make decisions that will allow our teachers to continue becoming the best in the state!
I have served as the WMS Building PDC Chair for the last 10 years, the District PDC Recorder for the last 9 years, and the St. Louis Regional Representative on the Learning Forward MO Board of Directors for the past 3 years. I am also a facilitator for the district's First Year Induction (FYI) program and served as a facilitator for the Wentzville NEA Beginning Teacher Assistance Program for 5 years (now a part of FYI). I have also had the opportunity to present state-wide at multiple conferences.
√STACEY WADE/Frontier Middle School
I am currently an 8th grade mathematics teacher at Frontier Middle School. I have taught in the Wentzville School District for 27 years, starting in the fall of 1989 at Wentzville Middle. I have spent my entire career teaching middle school students, and for the most part, math. I have been a building Professional Development Chair for at least 16 years over the course of my career.
Why am I interested in being the 7-8 Representative?
I have a passion for Professional Learning.
I once attended a MSDC conference and had the opportunity to listen to the Superintendent of New York Public Schools. He said something that resonated with me and that I continue to consider. He said, “If a loved one had cancer, and you had to choose a doctor, which doctor would you choose? The one who is a veteran who is doing the same thing he has done for the past 25 years. Or, do you choose the doctor who is up on the research and willing to try new things?” He, then, asked “Why don’t we expect the same from educators?” This thought, philosophy is one that I hold dear. I believe it is our duty as educators to continually learn and share our new learning so that all students can be successful. As a representative, I believe part of my role is to be passionate and enthusiastic about learning new strategies, new standards, and new ways of doing and thinking about things. I know I am a “veteran”, but what I bring is experience and the model that we as teachers should never stop learning and never settle for status quo. I am consistently a model for others that there is always more to learn and always more to share.
Additionally, I am interested in being the representative for 7-8 because I truly try to represent all of the staff at the middle school level. I am hard worker, a great planner, a person who considers the details, and who is willing to voice concerns from middle school teachers. I am someone who enjoys collaborating with others, and am very creative when it comes to creating different ways to share knowledge, strategies, and skills with other educators.
Lastly, I am extremely thankful for the resources of time and money that the Wentzville District has invested in me and my professional learning. I believe it is my responsibility to pay the district back dividends on their investment through hard work, sharing, giving back, and most importantly, by being the best teacher I can be for the students I teach. I think, sometimes, teachers need to be reminded to be thankful for all the opportunities we are given to enrich and improve our craft as teachers.
