I am one of the classroom aides here at Ridgeway. I grew up in Kirksville, MO and attended Truman State University, where I got my degree in Psychology. After college, I moved to Arizona to work at the Grand Canyon, where I met my husband. After five years in AZ, we moved to Columbia to be closer to both our families. We now have four children ranging in age from 15 to 9. They keep me very busy, but in my own spare time I enjoy reading, Sudoku, sewing and crafting, and dreaming of and planning our next travel adventure.
Cristy Lillig
Hello, everybody!
My name is Cristy Lillig, and I am the Instructional Aide at Ridgeway. This is my fourth year here. You may know me from our morning drop-off. Your kids for sure know me from lunch time. I also have the privilege of getting to work all through the school, helping in classes whenever, and wherever, I am needed.
On a personal level, I was born and raised in Jefferson City. I earned my BSEd at SMSU (now MSU). After living in Columbia for a year or so after graduation, I moved to Kansas City, where I met my Husband, Claes, and started my family. Our two kids, Effie (18-yrs old), and Toby (16-yrs old) are both students at Hickman High School. So, when I’m not bustling around Ridgeway, I’m trying to navigate through the modern college application process (ugh).
I have been a preschool teacher, a telephone operator, a front desk attendant, a shop girl, an art teacher, a Cub Scout leader, a Girl Scout leader, and even a “Cast Member” at The Disney Store.
I love working here at Ridgeway. I love working with our AMAZING staff. I love working with your kids, and look forward to helping your students grow!

Ridgeway Clubs
I am excited to announce that Ridgeway Clubs are BACK! Watch for information about after school clubs. On Monday, November 8 students will be sent home with a green paper copy (like a menu) of the club options for the rest of the school year. We will have families sign up for clubs electronically starting that evening. Clubs have a maximum number of participants, and they are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences are next week
Our Ridgeway teachers have been busy preparing to meet with you. Conference time passes quickly, and there are a few things that parents can do to prepare as well:
- Watch for a reminder email from SignUp Genius two days before your conference.
- Be prompt or early for your assigned conference time.
- Please bring your child to the conference.
- In advance, write down any questions you have.
- Help the teacher limit your conversation to 15 minutes. The teacher will want to give the next family their time as well.
- Visit the Book Fair in the media center. No purchase necessary, all students get to put their name in a drawing for free book boxes.
If you have had children at Ridgeway for the past few years, you will notice that our progress reports have changed. The progress report has a list of critical academic concepts by subject area. Many concepts are not assessed this trimester or even this school year. Since Ridgeway students are part of multi-age learning communities, some concepts will be addressed during their second year in a unit. Teachers will mark concepts once students have had multiple opportunities to demonstrate mastery.
We are excited to host an in-person Book Fair this year!
The Book Fair will take place in the Media Center
Wednesday, November 9, 3:00-6:00
Thursday, November 10, 3:00-6:00
Friday, November 11, 8:00-10:00
Students will preview the selection during Media Specials next week, but sales will only be conducted Wednesday and Thursday after school and Friday morning. The Book Fair coincides with parent-teacher-student conferences, so we hope to see you all there!
We also have an online platform for our Book Fair. The online fair is open now and ends on November 12. This is a great option if you are not planning on attending an in-person conference, want to get a head start on shopping, or want to share the Book Fair link with extended family members.
Visit the virtual platform of our bookfair: https://efairs.follettbookfairs.com/ school code: ZX983
Books ordered online will be shipped to our school in the next few weeks and sent home with your child. This is a great time of year to shop for Holiday gifts! If you would like to order books for your child as a gift, please email Mrs. Munsterman at rmunsterman@cpsk12.org to arrange a pick up time.

Unit A
Unit B
Unit C
In Unit C, students are asked to solve many multistep math problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and/or division facts. In order for our students to be successful, students need to have a strong grasp on all math facts 0-10. There are lots of cool apps on the iPad, if you need any suggestions let us know. Additionally, alterations to card games such as “war” and others, can encourage fun and practice at the same time. Students can also use everyday math games in ConnectEd to practice. One of our favorites is to shout out math facts to kids in the back seat on your short 10-15 minute car ride home. The goal is for students to be automatic at answering these questions within 3-5 seconds. Practicing 10-20 minutes per day will go a long way in helping your child be successful in math class.

COVID Vaccine Information
Dear Parents/Guardians:
The COVID-19 vaccine will be offered free of charge to students at Ridgeway Elementary on November 18, 2021. Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services will be on site to administer the vaccine. This opportunity to have your child vaccinated is strongly encouraged, but it is NOT mandatory.
For your child to be vaccinated, the COVID-19 Vaccine School-Based Clinic Consent Form must be:
FULLY completed and SIGNED by the parent or legal guardian
Completed for EACH CHILD (you must return a separate form for each child you want vaccinated)
Returned to your school nurse by November 15, 2021.
The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine will be offered. The Pfizer-BioNTech Emergency Use Authorization Fact Sheet can be found at: https://www.fda.gov/emergency-preparedness-and-response/coronavirus-disease-2019-covid-19/comirnaty-and-pfizer-biontech-covid-19-vaccine
You may also contact your school nurse or Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services for Pfizer-BioNTech EUA Fact Sheets.
If you decline, or do not return the required permission form to the school, the free COVID-19 vaccine will not be given to your student at school.
If you return the consent form, and your child receives the COVID-19 vaccine elsewhere, it is important that you notify your school nurse immediately. This will prevent your child from receiving a second dose of vaccine prematurely.
Children who do not get the vaccine at school may receive free COVID-19 vaccines at one of the many vaccinators in Boone County found at www.como.gov/covidvaccine.
If you have any further questions please contact your school nurse, Julie Roberts, RN at 573- 214-3550 ext. 59430.
