We wanted to take a few moments of your time to make sure you are fully aware of everything going on as we begin our wrap up of 2015 and begin the fast paced push of curriculum in 2016.

Quick News
Final Exams are coming!
For a printable version of the dates and times, please click here.
Most of our students will not have a 6th period final exam on Thursday morning (December 17th). The students who do take Spanish I as their reading class WILL have a final that morning. Please make sure to know whether or not the student has a final exam to take that morning.
All students will need to be at school to take the afternoon final exam.
Technology Issues
As we return from holiday break, please remind your student of this policy to avoid any consequences associated with having technology out at an inappropriate time on the team.
Check out the school's new website!
Use the website to:
- Access the Team 8B webpage / homework calendar
- Get additional resources (videos/worksheets/powerpoint presentations, etc) for each subject
- Keep up-to-date when absent
Final Exam Exemption Policy
- Students are allowed to exempt up to 2 final exams (including the Spanish I final exam)
- Students must have a 93% or above semester average in the class at the end of the day on December 3rd.
- A letter will be sent home with students on December 7th stating which exam(s) the student is able to exempt (if any) and this letter must be signed by both the student and parent/guardian.
- All exemption letters must be returned to Mrs. Young no later than 8:20 am on Friday, December 11th.
- Students will not be allowed out of class to call home for this letter and letters will NOT be accepted late for any reason. Mrs. Young will stress this to students at the time letters are passed out, but it is the responsibility of the student to return the letter on time.
- If a student is eligible to exempt more than two exams, the family will need to decide which exams the student will exempt and mark the letter accordingly.
- No extra credit work/bonus work will be given to boost a grade for final exam exemption.
- If the parent/student has questions in regards to this information, please contact Mrs. Young via email at young.kay@mail.fcboe.org.
9 Week Reading Goals- 450 pages!
Please double check with your student to see how they are progressing toward their 450 page goal. Students will have time to read when (if) they finish their final exams. We are expecting all goals to have been met on or before the end of the day on December 17th.

Positive People Award
A couple of weeks ago, winning students were presented with large boxes of candy and a certificate (all provided by Mrs. Johnson). Students sat eagerly in anticipation to hear if their name would be called. The looks of surprise from our more humbled students when their name was called. This was a great day for all of the students as they congratulated one another and cheered one another on.
A very proud moment in teaching happened that day!
Math-Its all about those linear functions!
Students were given 7 minutes to come up with and practice their performance. The enthusiasm was off the charts.
Students actually had a hard time waiting their turn to 'perform' their creations.
Some did a cheer (including stunts), some did a rap (with their own beat), and one group even set the procedure to the tune of The Addam's Family theme song and one to a Christmas Song. All of the groups were awesome! At this point, I wish I had a bigger vocabulary to describe what a wonderful job each group did in their performance and their creativity.
So, while you are just sitting around relaxing over the next few days, ask your student how to calculate slope!
You too will be amazed!
