OLVCS Updates
October 7th, 2022
Dear OLV Parents and Friends,
Happy Feast of Our Lady of Victory! What an amazing Walk-A-Thon Day for OLV!
While we will put out a special newsletter next week with all of the details of the day, I wanted to take a spot here to thank the members of the Walk-A-Thon Committee who helped make everything possible:
Jane Adams, Sandra Allen, Ashley Bartley, Caitlin Dare, Paul Fritzsche, Andrea Glantz, Amy Gravine, Kelly Kurpeikis, Julie Lunn, Jackie McNulty, Sarah Miller, Julienne Reed, Melanie Smith, Maria Spencer, Kristin Szymanski, Marlena Vendemia, and Laura Yartz!
An extra special thanks to Heather Lukac who took the lead on this year’s Walk-A-Thon, generating amazing results. Wonderful work, Heather!
Having been blessed year after year with the generosity of our community, it has been an honored tradition to give something back through volunteer service projects. I’d like to thank our teachers who have made these and other service projects possible at our school. Another special thanks to Molly Koehle, who coordinated with homeroom parents to help our students pull off these acts of kindness today…
Kindergarten made “thank yous” for our bus drivers.
Mr. Daley’s 1st grade made “thank yous” for our police and firefighters.
Mrs. Relkin’s 1st grade, along with OLV Preschool, made gifts for A Soldier’s Hands.
2nd grade spent time cleaning the church.
3rd grade made paper wreaths for soldiers.
4th grade designed onesies and brought in other helpful items for the Gabriel Project.
5th grade put together care packages for veterans.
And Middle School made Jared Boxes for the Meadows.
It was a huge success all around. Thanks to everyone for a great day! Thanks be to God!
God bless,
Jim Hoy
"Through the evidence of this service, you are glorifying God for your obedient confession of the gospel of Christ and the generosity of your contribution to them and to all others."

Thank You!

OLVCS Athletics Updates
Crusaders Split with Dragons on Wednesday
On Wednesday, October 5th at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy, our girls volleyball team played a re-match against the Central Dragons. At this competition our 8th grade student-athletes were also honored. Twelve 8th grade girls participated on the volleyball team for this, the inaugural, season. During the short ceremony, the coaches praised the girls for their effort and enthusiasm during the season.
As for game play, both the 8th grade and the 7th grade teams put up good fights with exciting rallies in their games against the Central teams. The 7th grade team was victorious in 2 sets: 25 OLV :11 Central and 26 OLV: 16 Central. The 8th grade game unfortunately ended with a loss for the Crusaders in two sets: 17 OLV: 25 Central and 19 OLV: 25 Central.
All middle school girls volleyball games are played best 2 out of 3, with the first 2 games played up to 15 and the third game played to 15. Teams must win by 2.
In further volleyball action, this past weekend, the OLV volleyball teams competed in the West Branch Blast Junior High Volleyball Tournament. Despite good effort and solid serving in the morning pool play, our team only won one set. Bracket play was in the afternoon and the team lost to West Branch in the first round.
