High blood pressure is the single biggest risk factor for heart disease, because it can strain our hearts and damage blood vessels. We can lower our blood pressure by - maintaining a healthy weight, not eating too much salt or drinking too much alcohol, participating in physical activity, and stress management.
This week's lesson points out that stress often leads to unhealthy choices and provides tips to turn down our stress-o-meter.
- Keep moving - physical activity is one of the best things we can do to manage stress
- Fuel your body with healthy foods and plenty of water
- Get plenty of sleep
- Practice deep breathing and relaxation exercises.
- Unplug from technology.
