Spring Valley Family News
October 2022

Greetings from Ms. Misner
Spring Valley Families,
It's hard to believe that we are already into the month of October! There are lots of important events coming up this month so be sure to read through this newsletter and mark your calendars accordingly.
As we move into Fall and the temperatures begin to drop, please be sure to send your child to school with appropriate clothing (jackets, hats etc.). We do go out for recess and wait outside in the mornings every day so layers may be helpful. If you are in need of Winter gear for your child, look for information coming soon from Communities in Schools about the Warm Kids program.
As always, please reach out with any questions or concerns. We appreciate you working together with us.
Take Good Care,
Heather L. Misner
Principal, Spring Valley Center for Exploration

Fall Conferences
Please be sure to return your preference for conference times and format (virtual or in person) to your child's teacher as soon as possible.

Spring Valley PTO Needs You!
One of the greatest things you can do for your child is to be involved is to become a voice in your student’s school. WE NEED YOU!
Conferences are coming up soon; as a tradition and heartfelt courtesy, parents and families provides a meal for our teachers and staff during one of their “long days.” We need parents to “signup” as we work together to coordinate a meal. The date for this is Wednesday October 14th.
Please call the school office at 337-0750 and advise them of your interest in participating or send an
email to campbelltrudy4@gmail.com. Whether it be a crockpot of soup, items for our salad bar, beverages, or your “signature dessert” your contribution will be appreciated by or teachers and staff.
OTHER PTO NEWS...
Our first fundraiser is coming up soon and Goodies Factory brochures will be coming home soon as we kick off our biggest fundraiser of the year (making 50% profit for our school for each item of popcorn/candy sold by our students.)
Also, Our first PTO meeting will be on October 20th. Dinner and daycare will be provided. Stay tuned for more information as we will be celebrating what our students have been doing in music at this meeting.

SOAR Flight
Our October SOAR Flight will be a Fall themed Obstacle Course and students need to save up 25 SOAR slips to attend the event.

Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
Arrival: If your child is a walker or drop off, please enter in the side parking lot and stop at the sign. Students will say goodbye to their families at that time and line up outside by grade.
PLEASE DO NOT PARK FOR ANY REASON IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL at arrival or dismissal. This area is for buses only.
Dismissal: Children who are pick up may be picked up at the doors by the gym at 3:50 pm. Parents will meet a staff member and sign their child out before leaving the school. Please park in the side lot during dismissal. Be prepared to show an ID if requested. Please make sure any person who can pick up your child(ren) are listed on the registration so we can assure every child is safe.
If your child has a change in Dismissal Plans, please let the Main Office know prior to 3:00. This will help us ensure we have enough time to notify teachers and have your child in the right location at dismissal. Thank you in advance!
