Erpenbeck Enquirer

From your Principal, Mrs. Pass
As we begin to read about the phases of the country opening back up, I wanted to take some time to talk to you about the future.
Right now, we know how tough the current situation can feel when you compile the stress, uncertainty, disappointment and loss of human connection with the task of trying to help your child grow academically each day through the methods and processes our teachers are establishing. Our community has been working so hard to keep the students growing. We have been blown away by the support and effort from our parents! That being said, this arrangement is hard for everyone. It is just a tough situation.
It's ok to walk away from it for awhile. Our teachers are being very flexible about when work can be completed. If it feels like too much, or if the work is causing arguments, frustration or causing you or your child to lash and say things you would not mean as a result of the situation, walk away from it! Return to it when you are both in a better place. Do your best, and understand that your best right now is absolutely good enough!
Our teachers will be having discussions vertically to determine what the students in their 2020-2021 homeroom classed need. They will meet with the grade-level before them and look at what standards may need some review or re-teaching as a result of the NTI days this Spring.
The teachers of EES and Boone County will catch up any kids who may need it next year. We are teachers- that is what we do!
We will continue to work together to try to ensure your child's growth this school year, but we want you to focus on your child's mental health as we move into another season of uncertainty. Right now, students need a positive, safe school environment, even when that environment at at home. Check out these tips from the National Association of School Psychologists on how to support your student's mental health.
At EES, our vision is to build a foundation of literacy, numeracy and social-emotional awareness. Right now, in this time of turbulence, it is so important that we all focus on our own social-emotional health. The CDC has a nice page of information referencing COVID-19 specifically, which is linked here. . Please reach out to our school counselors Mrs. Neace or Mrs. Baird if you need anything. If they can't help you, they will be able to find resources for you! Our school district has also created a Wellness Hotline to help students, staff or families during this time. Here is the information for the hotline.
You are doing an amazing job of managing everything this has put on your plate. I hope you take a minute today to do something for yourself!
