Secret Shop Shout-Out
The committee would also like to thank everyone who entered their contest, "How many kisses does it take to melt the heart of the abominable snowman?". With an exact, heart-melting guess of 432, congratulations to Kaitlyn Oakes from Mr. Pisch's 3rd grade class. Kaitlyn was the proud recipient of a 3 foot stuffed abominable snowman and Mr. Pisch was presented with a large snow globe full of chocolate kisses. In second place, with a very close, heart-warming guess was Justin Bardwell from Mr. Isaacsohn's 4th grade class. He too went home with a (smaller) stuffed abominable snowman and Mr. Isaacsohn was given a smaller jar of chocolate kisses.
Kids Care Club Spread Holiday Cheer
On Saturday December 5, Gayman Kids Care Club kids and parents (and even some Gayman Alumni from Tohickon) spread holiday cheer at Pine Run Lakeview. With the help of Be the Light of the Party Foundation, Kids Care Club provided a hot Holiday lunch to Pine Run residents. Our Gayman kids took orders, served residents and joined them for conversation. After dessert, the kids entertained the residents with Holiday songs and the children and residents decorated the Christmas tree together. After the festivities the children said goodbye to their new friends, offering them special gift bags full of seasonal goodies.
Every year this special event lightens the hearts of the children and parent volunteers who participate. The nursing home residents express such gratefulness for Gayman Kids Care Club’s annual visit and the connection they make with our children. Thank you to all who donated time, gifts and food to this special event. Happy Holidays!
December Boomerang Award
This year, Gayman will continue to accept nominations for the Boomerang Award, which is our way of honoring students who best demonstrate their own developmental assets. What are Developmental Assets? Students possessing a combination of “40 Assets” are typically most successful in school and in life. These assets have the power to influence choices young people make and help them become caring, responsible adults. For a complete listing of the 40 Developmental Assets visit: www. Search-institute.org.
December #22. School Engagement. Young person is actively engaged in educational activities inside and/or outside of school. They take learning a step further and by their actions and enthusiasm serve as a role model to others. Boomerang nominations may be emailed to Suzanne Vass at email@example.com, or printed out and sent into the office.
