Three, Two, One - Almost Done!

We're in the last three weeks of school! On Monday, 5th grade will make lunches for Union Station. Please send in your $2 donation. Wednesday, May 25 will be the Reach Out Assembly. On Thursday, is a free Farmer John hot dog lunch and the Sports Awards assembly. On Friday, May 27, it's time for fun in the sun as the entire MJS Community participates in Blue and White Day. Starting Wednesday, May 25, the Service Learning Showcase is happening in the HPAC. What a WOW week!

Come visit our First Service Learning Showcase!

Mayfield has a long tradition of incorporating charity and service work into the school year. This year we pushed ourselves to develop even more meaningful service experiences by connecting them more fully to our classroom content. Every student participated in at least one Service Learning opportunity where they learned about a relevant societal issue in the classroom, did active research, and then through the work of their hands and hearts participated in service that connected their new knowledge with action in their community.

We invite our parents to drop by the HPAC Wednesday, May 25th through Friday, May 27th during the times listed below to see what each grade accomplished and the stories we have to tell. You can visit the Showcase like a museum - go at your own pace and take as little or as long as you would like to see and reflect on the work of the year.

Showcase is open to parents:

  • Wednesday, May 25th 8:20 am - 3:10 pm
  • Thursday, May 26th 8:20 am - 5:00 pm
  • Friday, May 27th 8:20 am - 12:00 pm

June 3: 5th Grade Performs The Lion King!

Last week, fifth grade received a special visit from Luke Swanson's godfather, Terron Brooks. Mr. Brooks has starred in The Lion King as Simba on Broadway and at the Pantages. He shared his experiences and advice with students, and enjoyed participating in rehearsal.

On Friday, June 3, 2016, fifth grade will perform The Lion King. Ms. Byrne has posted on Schoology the music and script for the musical. Please make sure your student is practicing at home, memorizing their lines out loud. Many thanks for your support and see you soon!

Being On Time to Morning Prayer

Morning Prayer is the most important part of our day. Please show up on time and proceed immediately to the prayer area as soon as you hear the bell.

But what should I do if I am dropped off after 8am?

All students (and parents): If you arrive after the 8:00am bell, please proceed DIRECTLY to Morning Prayer without stopping first at advisories/homerooms. Take your items with you to the prayer area.

Yearbook Needs Your Photos!

The students in the yearbook elective are planning on putting together a digital album and need photos from the MJS community! If you have any photos taken on a camera or smart phone, please click here. You'll be taken to a page where you can upload photos to our MJS yearbook gallery and help us capture all events from April until June. If you have questions, please contact Ms. Cathy Lin (Yearbook Instructor). Thank you!
