[Lennie] said gently, "George… I ain’t got mine. I musta lost it." He looked down at the ground in despair.

"You never had none, you crazy bastard. I got both of ‘em here. Think I’d let you carry your own work card?"

Lennie grinned with relief. (1.22-24)

*Lennie was always worried about doing something wrong he would do things on accident that he thought was bad. Some of them were but he didn't know better. He was afraid that the american life style they planned to have wasn't going to happen.*

George had no choice but to kill Lennie. He killed Curley's Wife and he killed the puppy. He was getting to be a pain and always doing things wrong.


"I was only foolin', George. I don't want no ketchup. I wouldn't eat no ketchup if it was right here beside me."

"If it was here, you could have some."

"But I wouldn't eat none, George. I'd leave it all for you. You could cover your beans with it and I wouldn't touch none of it." (1.93-95)

*Lennie was always fooling or joking around and I think George was getting mad. Lennie would probably get worried that George was getting annoyed and not want to have the farm together.*

Lennie had this american dream to be with George and have their own farm and live together. Of Mice and Men shows the people during the depression and people imaging what they could have.
