From the Desk of Mr. Ruedinger

Hello CCA Parents,

Thank you to all who attended our annual Winter Extravaganza last weekend. It was a wonderful evening where many people came together to support Christ Child Academy. Without your continued support, we would be unable to fulfill our mission each and every day. Thank you to Molly Oehldrich, Sarah Landgraf, Courtney Heronymus for sharing their time and talents on the Winter Extravaganza Committee and everyone else who assisted in some way. The Fund-A-Cause this year was for the remaining balance of our new ELA curriculum and we reached our goal of $8,200 by raising $8,400. What a awesome surprise! Thank You!

Enclosed in last week's Carrier was a YEARBOOK ORDER FORM. Every form has a student name on the top. Yearbooks can be personalized with your student's picture and name for an additional $3 per book. Yearbooks will be distributed at yearbook signing the beginning of June (date to be determined). Please return you order form by Monday, March 2.

The 62nd Annual Padre Serra Basketball Tournament will be held at Marquette University High School, 3306 W Michigan Street, Milwaukee from March 12 - 29. We would like to thank Nick Reinl for his many years of service to the CCA Athletic Committee and as Athletic Director. In recognition, he was presented with an engraved plaque and Chamber Cash at the fall basketball meeting in October. Sara Grote has been shadowing Nick this school year and will be taking over as Athletic Director for the 2020-2021 school year.

We would like to welcome Dominic & Angela Dorato along with their family to our school. Antonio (gr. 6), Mario (gr. 3), & Nina (gr. 1) joined us on Tuesday, February 18. Welcome!

Congratulations to Mrs. Veronica Lampe, our school counselor, and her husband, Jon, on the birth of their daughter Kaylee Veronica who was born on Saturday, February 22 at 5:21 pm. She weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces and 20 inches long. Kaylee is welcomed home by her brother, Thomas.

Looking ahead, we will be administering the Wisconsin Forward Assessment in grades 3-8 from Monday, March 30 through Friday, May 1. A more definite schedule will be sent home with your students. It is important that the students be in attendance and well-rested, so they can do their best on the tests.

Also, MAP testing will be held the week of May 11. All students in grades K -2 will be tested to see how they have progressed this year. Please do not schedule any appointments for your children during this time. It is important that the students are in attendance and well-rested, so they can do their best on the tests. Thank you for your cooperation.

Standards Based Grading

During this school year, Christ Child Academy will be transitioning from a traditional grading system to standards based grading system, which will go into effect for the 2020-2021 school year. The Archdiocese of Milwaukee has strongly recommended that all schools move to this reporting framework.

As we proceed through this transition over the next year, please know that our goal of academic excellence remains our priority. These "best practices" will enable parents to fully understand where their child is academically while at the same time motivating students to become life-learners.

The Parenting Guide to Standards Based Grading will provide valuable insight during this transition. Additional information will be coming in the following weeks.
