21 Sports ... 1 Team ... WE ARE HOBART!
If you've been listening to 93.9 FM at all since late last week, you know that the Christmas music has already begun ... oh the weather outside is frightful, but the sports inside are SO DELIGHTFUL!! Boys basketball, Boys swimming and Wrestling seasons are all underway with contests to come before Thanksgiving ... Gymnastics starts Monday ... Girls basketball has been preparing this past week for game #2 @ former NCC rival Griffith on Tuesday ... and Girls Swimming broke some pool records in their opener last Thursday night over at Wheeler!
With temperatures outside sitting firmly in the 30's, cuddle up with a blanket by the fire and grab your chromebook ... it's time for BricksCenter!
Girls Swimming
Sophomore Emma Wright picked up where she left off a year ago by breaking some more records ... this time it was both the 100 and 200 freestyle Wheeler High School pool records! Freshman Morgan Sanchez won the 500 freestyle ... and then immediately got back in and helped the Lady Brickies win the 200 free relay ... TOUGHNESS!!!
Some more individual winners for the Lady Brickies were a pair of sophomores ... Delaney O'Brien in both the 50 free and 100 back, and Ana Tepavcevich in the 100 breast! GREAT JOB LADIES!
Hobart also swept all three relays!
200 Medley Relay - Alivia Ahner, Julie Hunt, Ana Tepavcevich, Nina Rucinski
200 Free Relay - Delaney O'Brien, Nina Rucinski, Morgan Sanchez and Emma Wright
400 Free Relay - Delaney O'Brien, Ana Tepavcevich, Morgan Sanchez and Emma Wright
Hobart divers went 1-2-3 over Wheeler with Alivia Ahner breaking the Hobart sophomore diving record of 182.2 from 1982 with her score of 192.3!
Overall it was a GREAT NIGHT TO BE A BRICKIE!!

NCC Leadership 2018
The day started in the auditorium with IHSAA assistant commissioner Sandra Walter and a session on SPORTSMANSHIP ... then our kids enjoyed some lunch with student-athletes from Andrean, Highland, Kankakee Valley, Lowell and Munster ... and finally the event moved to Lowell's fieldhouse for some LEADERSHIP training exercises and TEAM BUILDING.
Overall, it was a GREAT experience for our kids to spend some time focused on LEADERSHIP as a collective group and relate it to SPORTSMANSHIP as they bonded and built relationships with student-athletes from our conference!

Girls Soccer
Juniors Grace Nestich and Lauren Romeo were selected as representatives for the North team ... and as has been the case with our girls soccer team all season, the game went to OVERTIME and the North WON in a SHOOTOUT by the score of 4-3!
CONGRATULATIONS and GREAT JOB LADIES!! WE ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU!!

Girls Cross Country
Congratulations to senior Holly Shaginaw on being named Honorable Mention All-State by the IATCC (Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches)! One more well-deserved award for a stellar season of racing that ended in a 60th place finish at the State Finals!

Fall Sports Awards
We had a football team that kept us on the edge of our seats, a resurgence of our boys soccer team, 3 double-overtime shoot-outs with our girls soccer team, hosted a volleyball sectional for the first time in school history, enjoyed one of the better girls golf seasons in recent memory, advanced an individual boys tennis player to the regional finals, and saw both of our cross country teams make deep "runs" in the state tournament series ... capped off by a state finals appearance by senior Holly Shaginaw!
CONGRATULATIONS to all of our fall sport coaches and athletes for an amazing fall season of competition and THANK YOU for representing Hobart so well with your hard work and dedication!
