Goals of Collaborative Planning

As you meet on Tuesdays:

1. Collaboratively plan lessons

2. Use data/student work to plan

3. Deconstruct the standards

Thank You

I had several hours in the car this weekend. Jill and I talked about teachers, teaching, and education. We asked would we get into education with what we know now. We both said yes. For my part, it is because of two things. One, I get to see fantastic educators and dedicated staff every day. You put kids ahead of yourself. You smile. You laugh. You teach. You hug. You learn to make yourself better. Two, I get to see fantastic kids every day. They learn from you. They smile. They laugh. They try your patience. They learn to make themselves better.

It is a pretty neat job that we are allowed to do, when it all comes down to it. Thank you for what you do. Each day, parents send you that which is most precious to them. They aren't leaving the good ones at home. And you meet them every day with knowledge and with love. A thank you is not enough, but it is sincerely what I have to offer. Thank you for what you do each day.

Proud to be your principal,

Daniel

LSTC & Media Specialist Survey (From Tracy and Mary)

The county has created a survey to be completed for the LSTC and Media Specialist by all certified teachers. The survey is part of our year end evaluation. Please take a moment this week and complete it. The last day for surveys is Friday, March 27th. You will receive a an individual, unique code and web address for the survey in your mailbox. We appreciate your feedback and look forward to seeing the results. Please note the codes are randomly given to you and your survey information is confidential.

Survey Instructions:

After navigating to the survey website and entering your code you will first see a survey for the LSTC. Once you have completed that survey you will be prompted to enter the same code a second time for the Media Specialist survey. I've included the link to the survey below. http://tellgcps/surveys/FPS_LSTC.htm

Milestones Online Testing

There will be seven teachers in grades three through five completing their Milestones testing online. Thank you to Claire McCall, Tendayi Taylor, Bailey Fenwick, Katie Turner, Jill Miner, Mark Turner and Jennifer Vegas. Jennifer will be testing a small group of students in the Cub Hub.

In order to prepare for the online testing, we need to close the labs from April 13 through April 29th. Once the computers have been set we are unable to allow anyone to use the computers for testing security purposes. Additionally, we will need to utilize all SMALL laptops in the building. Marianne and I will be sending out an email instructing you where to bring the laptops by April 3rd. We promise to get the laptops returned as soon as we have completed online testing. We greatly appreciate your understanding and flexibility, and we apologize in advance for any inconveniences.

  • April 3rd - All Small Laptops Brought to Marianne and Tracy (Location to be determined)
  • April 13th - Labs Prepared for Milestones testing
  • April 14th & 15th - Actual Practice Test for Milestones (Six Online Teachers to Take)
  • April 20th-29th - Online Testing in all Computer Labs and some classrooms with small laptops.

Life's 10 Essentials

It’s surprising how easy it is to lose sight of the important things in life. Busy schedules and weekly routines have a tendency to put the brain on autopilot. Some of life’s essential truths need repeating.

3. FEAR IS THE #1 SOURCE OF REGRET

When it’s all said and done, you will lament the chances you didn’t take far more than you will your failures. Don’t be afraid to take risks.
