Database Delights
There's more to life than Google
Dear parents,
To enhance your child's learning experience, we are encouraging our students to access our new and updated electronic databases.
WHAT IS AN ELECTRONIC DATABASE?
Databases, a searchable electronic collection of resources, are carefully screened for content and chosen to enhance academic pursuits and student inquiry. Each of our libraries hosts a different set of databases that are tailored to fit the age and maturity of the building's students.
Databases are available through each building's library website - just click on the logo that says "High School Database Portal" "Middle School Database Portal" or "Elementary School Database Portal".
We ask that you not share the password, which is "look", outside the district. Our databases provide not only historical information, but also provide news on current events as soon as they happen. Other subjects covered include health, politics, the environmental sciences, social science, economics, humanities, technology and more. There are also electronic books, audio books, and educational games for students that allow them to learn as they play. These databases are for your children to use anytime, anywhere.
We encourage you to explore our databases with your child. Please do not hesitate to contact our district library staff with any questions you might have:
Julie Melton - District Wide School Media Specialist
Amy Prater - Middle School Library Clerk
Larissa Juliano - Elementary School Library Teacher
Alice Sharp - Elementary School Library Clerk
