Pinehill School Newsletter
Wednesday 16th February 2022
Message from our Principal
Kia ora tatou, Mālō e lele, Ann yeong haseyo, Ni hao, Dzień dobry
It has been a positive, safe and happy transition back to school and we have launched into
2022 with a strong focus on supporting our students back into school life and learning while adhering to the Red Light Settings.
Red Light Setting
Thank you all for your support with wearing masks within the school grounds and for ensuring your child has their own mask. With your help we have created a positive mask culture at Pinehill School where masks are normalised. This is fantastic as we know that masks help to keep us all safe. Our plans are working well.
CO2 levels
We are fortunate to have had the Ministry of Education provide us with a CO2 monitor to test the air in our classrooms. Experts tell us that classrooms with poor ventilation may contribute to the spread of the virus and so we have been closely monitoring these to provide us with information about the air quality in our learning spaces.
Normal outdoor reading is 420ppm, while acceptable indoor levels range from 420-999ppm. The levels in our classrooms have remained at a relatively regular level of 486ppm - 550ppm throughout the day, which tells us that we have excellent ventilation in these spaces.
You may have noticed the Senior Leadership team, Sarah Ward, Rochelle Mabon, and myself out at the gates each morning. We do this to ensure each student is greeted with smiling eyes, and a friendly hello. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to use this time to chat with us.
Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini
Success is not the work of one, but the work of many.
Ngā mihi nui,
Carla Veldman, Principal

Friends of Pinehill School - FOPS
Friends of Pinehill School would like to welcome all students and parents back to Pinehill School for 2022.
Fun Food Friday and Snack Food Friday are suspended this term. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
Second-hand Uniform
You can purchase second hand school uniforms at our Kindo Online Shop, please visit https://shop.tgcl.co.nz/shop/index.html. Uniform orders will be delivered to your child’s classroom. If you select “collect from the office”, this can be arranged and items can be collected on Fridays from the school office. As a result of limited access to school grounds, please allow extra time for order fulfillment. If you need assistance please feel free to email us.
Due to technical issues, some orders from last week were not delivered on time. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and if you still have outstanding orders, please email us. Thank you for your cooperation.
If you have school uniforms that you can donate, please ask your child to bring them to school and pass them to the office. Thank you for your generosity!

The stickers are exchanged for sports equipment for the school. All stickers and barcodes need to be stuck on the official forms which can be downloaded from www.yummyfruit.co.nz or from the FOPS fundraising page on the school website. Sports News
Netball
Thank you for expressing an interest in winter netball 2022.
Netball is open to all children from years 2-6. Games are played at Pinehurst school on Saturday mornings through Kidzplay netball.
Fees for the season are approximately $55, Umpire fees are additional. Children will need to wear the Pinehill school red sports T Shirt and a black skirt and netball shoes.
Once the expression of interest has closed off, we will start to organise the teams, if required we will hold a trial to place children in teams. Every effort will be made to place your child in a team, however due to the number of children interested this may not be possible.
Once this process has been completed we will notify parents via email, inviting you to REGISTER and pay through Kindo.
*Teams will only be confirmed to go ahead if we have enough children and parent volunteers for the coach and manager positions, and fees are paid in full.*
Please fill in the expression of interest form and submit by 3.00pm Thursday 24th March.
