UpTempo Fundraiser

Tuesday, Feb 7

4:45pm - GHS Auditorium

On Tuesday from 4:45 - 5:30, The Grapevine Mustang Band will be kicking off our Up Tempo Fundraising campaign in the GHS Auditorium! ALL band members will be in attendance for this fundraising event. This is a campaign that allows our students to receive donations from their family and friends. To assist our fundraising efforts, we are asking you to help your son/daughter obtain permission for and gather 20 email addresses and phone numbers of his/her closest supporters.

Family and friends will then receive an email directing them to the student’s personal web page providing an easy way for them to donate.

Up-Tempo Email Campaign Facts:

1. Safe and Protected – Up Tempo utilizes a safe and secure online donation system. All data is private and never redistributed. Personal information displayed is less detailed than what is given on a team online roster or your school’s annual yearbook, with no personal information other than name and optional picture/selfie. Your contacts are strictly private and protected, never sold or shared and will be deleted after the campaign.

2. Online donation system – Up Tempo is basically an online donation platform inviting potential donors via email and social media to visit the web page where they can easily donate and support your program. All supporters will receive an emailed receipt for their tax-deductible gift. Reminder emails and texts will be sent throughout the campaign with the option to unsubscribe.

We are asking you to assist your son/daughter by obtaining permission for and gathering 20 emails and phone numbers of people closest to him/her that may be potential donors. Your student will need to save these in the notes of their phone by MONDAY, February 6th and we will help set up his/her profile and host our “Kickoff” for the students to reach out to the people on their list. Thank You!

If you have specific questions regarding Up Tempo Fundraising, please contact Mindy Purcell at mindypurcell@uptempofundraising.com

** If your family would rather not participate in this fundraiser and choose the buyout option outlined below, that is totally fine! Students that participate in the buyout option do not need to attend the fundraiser event, but are welcome to do so. **

The Buy-Out Option

We understand the feeling of “OH NO . . . not another fundraiser”. For this reason, we have created an option to support our band by participating in a buyout. For those who do not have the time to give your full attention to the Uptempo Fundraiser we have created something for you. The Buy-Out option. The buyout cost is a minimum contribution of $350 with 100% going to the band. Please send a check made payable to GHS Band Boosters. Make sure to put your student's name on the check so we know who participated. Checks can be dropped in the band hall safe. If you need another payment option, reach out to treasurer@grapevinehsband.comor angelahall_vp@grapevinehsband.com.

Nashville, TN - Pearl Corporation announces the opening of its third annual college scholarship, "Musicians Making A Difference", which will award two $5,000 scholarships totaling $10,000 to high school musicians who have demonstrated the ability to impact change in themselves, their community, and those around them.

"I am beyond grateful to have been selected a recipient of the 2022 Musicians Making a Difference Scholarship. The scholarship has been invaluable in paying for my college and conservatory education and has allowed me to focus on becoming a better musician and person. Thank you so much to Pearl Drums for supporting musicians who are passionate about giving back to their community!" said Amy Hwang, 2022 Scholarship recipient.

A diverse panel of Pearl staff and artists will select recipients based on a student's contributions to their community and not their playing or vocal ability. The scholarship's objective is to reward and inspire the youth who will shape tomorrow.

This year's application deadline is April 15, 2023.

The Austin Brass Collective is hosting our first solo competition for High School and Middle School brass players! All brass players in grades 7-12 are invited to submit unaccompanied recordings of solo repertoire to compete for cash prizes and an opportunity to perform their solo with the ABC!

Full rules and procedures can be found on our website (austinbrasscollective.com), but here's a quick rundown you could share with your students:

Any accompanied solo under 10 minutes is allowed, but your submission tape does not need piano accompaniment! Just the solo part is fine!

There will be two divisions: High school and Middle school, each with a set of prizes.

The deadline to submit your recording and a competition fee of $25 is 11:59pm on January 29th

The winner of the high school division will perform their solo with the ABC on March 5th, and one of our arrangers will write a brand new arrangement of your solo for brass ensemble!
