Learning Apps for Source Tablets
Learning Apps that are helpful in the classroom
Endless Alphabet
Endless Alphabet is an interactive word game for elementary students. This app is great for learning new vocabulary, as it breaks down the word, then has students reconstruct the word using letter recognition. The app then has a mini video of the definition of the word. The only down fall is that there is a limited amount of words that come with the free app, and then you must purchase the rest for a set price.
Flash Cards Pro
Flashcards Pro is another good word learning app for kids. This is more appropriate for older grades, but could be used for the younger grades. One nice feature about this app is the text to speech option in 19 different languages. You can also place the word in another language on the back of the card. Both of these functions would be helpful for ELL students in learning English.
Math 4 Kids
Math 4 Kids is an interactive math game for students age 7-10. You can choose between addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems at varying degrees of difficulty. Another bonus function of this app is the review function, in which students are able to review their problems.
Brain Pop Jr. Movie of the Week
This app is a good informational tool, that could be used to help introduce students to particular topic. New videos are uploaded regularly, and are related to current events, or relevant topics. Each video comes along with extra information and two quizzes of differing levels of difficulty. Another way this app could be useful is for research purposes. Students could use the videos as starting points for looking into the topic they have chosen to study.
Drawing Canvas
Drawing Canvas is a drawing app that could be used as an alternative art tool. Students could use it to create art work for stories, or assignments. Students who struggle with writing could also use it to practice writing on the canvas. This app could be used in both the lower grades and upper grades of elementary school.
Class Board
What I like about this app is that it can be used as another option to a smart board. It turns your Source Tablet into an interactive screen. I think this app could come in handy when the smart board screen freezes up. All you have to do is hook it up to the projector
