Mass Incarceration
The Battle Against the U.S Justice System
Is it Really Working?
Incarceration rates in America have skyrocketed in the past few decades. Some people believe that mass incarceration is good because it helps to keep criminals off the streets and ensures that our communities are safer. However, it has been proven that crime rates are already decreasing, meaning that they're are less criminals in our society today. Besides the fact that mass incarceration is unnecessary, it costs the U.S billions of dollars to keep all of these people in prison (the amount spent on one prisoner for a year could pay off someone's college tuition for a year).
