OPES WEEKLY UPDATES
FEBRUARY 8-11
LIVING RESPONSIBLY SNOW DAY
Last week OPES celebrated Living Responsibly Week. Each day we focused on learning about a different area of what makes for a responsible student and recognized students who demonstrated strength in these areas (Organization, Time Management, Focus, and Effort). At the end of the week, we each chose an area to focus on improving. On Friday, we had a fun "Snow Day" to celebrate our accomplishments during the week. We had snowball fights, read stories about snow, and made a Kindness Tree of snowflakes with positive messages written on them. There is Snow Much Kindness at Oak Pointe!
LET'S SHARE SOME OPES LOVE! WE ARE MAKING VALENTINE'S DAY CARDS FOR THE KIDDOS AT PRISMA HEALTH CHILDRENS' HOSPITAL!
OPES is partnering with Prisma Health to provide Valentine’s cards for kiddos at the children’s hospital.
Please turn your cards into Mrs. Metts by Thursday, February 11.
ASK ME ABOUT MY NEW FEELINGS WORD OF THE WEEK.......
Growing Our Emotional Vocabulary in 2021!
We are choosing a new feelings word each week for us to explore. We are starting this project because we feel it is extremely important for our students to have a solid understanding of feelings. They need to be able to identify and name their feelings so that they can address them in a healthy way (you have to name it to tame it!). At the end of each week, we will share the feelings word with you so that you may have further discussions with your child at home if you choose. We hope you will share in this emotional vocabulary journey with us!
