This Week in Pre-K
Plants, Plants and more Plants!
Week of April 25th, 2016
This week we wrapped up our plant unit and started to introduce bugs! In Language Arts we met letter buddy blend Bl-. Students read Blow the Blankets to a teacher, used letter stamps to write Bl words and played a Bl drawing game on whiteboards. We drew a picture of a garden with bugs and wrote a number sentence about it: I have___bugs. We used our inventive spelling skills to spell bugs! We continued to work on lower case letters in our writing and through a ladybug letter matching game. We practiced building words by sound through a game. We also played an exciting sight word recognition game!
In Math we created patterns with flowers, practiced skip counting by 5 and played some addition and subtraction games. We practiced writing the equations and using the math vocabulary.
In Science we created a bug graph as a class then students worked on their own bug graph. As we interpreted the results, we noticed that all the graphs were different. We made a plant book as a class. Each student drew a different plant, labeled it and labeled the plant parts. We put all the pictures together to make one Pre-K plant book. We did a little more seed planting as well!
Next week we will learn about frogs and the frog life cycle!
