Halloween Events in Toronto
High Park Pumpkin Float
Hosted by the High Park Nature Centre, the 17th annual High Park Pumpkin Float is pumpkin carving event for the whole family. Guests carve a pumpkin, light it and then set it to sail in the wading pool at the north end of the park.
Put the rush of tossing your pumpkin into the compost heap off for one day to take part in this parade. Join nearly 2000 pumpkins in this parade of jack-o-lanterns lining the pathway through Sorauren Park. There’s nothing competitive about this parade, but maybe your carving will catch a few eyes, or you might find a few ideas you can make your own for Halloween next year.

Condos Falling Apart
Canada's biggest city has more than 100,000 units under construction as developers and investors seek to cash in on condo prices that are up 25.7 percent in the city over the past five years. The trouble is, many buildings are so poorly constructed that some residents fear that the money-spinners of today could become the slums of the future.
Glass panels have been falling off newly built Toronto condos, including the luxury Shangri-La and Trump Towers and a dozen or more lesser-known buildings across the city. New buildings suffer from water leaks and poor insulation, making them ill-suited to Canadian weather

The Top 5 Restaurants for Live Music in Toronto
The top restaurants for live music in Toronto offer something special for hungry concert-goers - while there's no shortage of live music venues that serve food, there are a smaller number who focus on the dining experience (and fewer venues that still cater towards the classic dinner-theatre concept).
An enjoyable night on the town can often include some of the great shows the city's live music scene has to offer. For many, a couple of drinks (or more) can elevate the experience - and for some, especially 9-5ers, going from work to sit, relax, and have a meal before or with the show can be a life-saver.

The top 10 places to sneak a nap in Toronto
Life in Toronto would be greatly improved if we seriously considered the siesta as an official thing, but given that it won't happen in our lifetime, I thought I'd take a stab at rounding up some public places suitable for napping in this city. The criteria is pretty basic: relatively comfortable seating, some privacy (or at least anonymity), and relative quiet. In short, you're unlikely to find a perfect place to snooze without heading home or laying down some cash, but there are places that will allow you to do so if you're particularly exhausted.

How You Were Born
The multi-talented Kate Cayley recently published her first short story collection. How You Were Born is a collection of stories looking at the bizarre, the tragi-comic and the unbelievable elements that run through our lives. An aging academic becomes convinced that he is haunted by his double. Two children believe their neighbours are war criminals in hiding. A dwarf in a circus dreams of a perfect wedding. An eleven-year-old girl becomes obsessed with the acrobat who visits her small town. These narratives run the gamut from realistic to uncanny, from ordinary epiphanies to extremities of experience. You will love them.
This Changes Everything
Forget everything you think you know about global warming. The really inconvenient truth is that it's not about carbon-it's about capitalism. The convenient truth is that we can seize this existential crisis to transform our failed system and build something radically better. In her most provocative book yet, Naomi Klein, author of the global bestsellers The Shock Doctrine and No Logo, tackles the most profound threat humanity has ever faced: the war our economic model is waging against life on earth.
