2016 Peace Poster Contest Winners
Every fall the 6th graders at Stone Bank School submit posters for the Stone Bank Lions Club International Peace Poster Contest. The goal of the contest is to encourage students to creatively express what peace means to them. It allows students to share their unique image of peace with others, so that we may all have greater tolerance and international understanding.
The Lions Club chooses a different theme as the focus for the posters each year, and students develop ideas and create their posters in art class. The 2016 theme was “A Celebration of Peace.” Stone Bank School contest winners for 2016 are: Katie Sindorf (1st place), Riley Malison (2nd place), and Erica Kohls (3rd place). Congratulations to these students and to all of the 6th graders for their thoughtful work on the peace posters. Please view the slide show of all the students’ peace posters on our school Facebook page.

A Message from the Office
If your child will be leaving early for an appointment or has alternate transportation for getting home, please have your student bring in a note signed and dated by a parent/guardian indicating what day and what time they will be leaving or how they will be getting home first thing in the morning. If an e-mail was sent to the child's teacher, please be sure to include the office on that email.
Sole Hope
The first week of December, Student Council will be participating in a project with SOLE HOPE. SOLE HOPE is an organization that aims to provide shoes to children in Uganda who might otherwise be barefoot and suffer from the jiggers. The jiggers dig into people’s feet and cause infection and pain. We have been invited to participate in a “Shoe cutting Party.” We are asking students, parents, teachers and staff to bring in a pair of old jeans (blue denim please) by November 30th. Students in 5th through 8th grade will have the opportunity to trace patterns onto the denim and cut out the pieces for shoe uppers. These pieces will then be shipped to SOLE HOPE and eventually to Uganda to be sewn into shoes for children.
