Face to Face Reopening Parent Update Meeting Presentation
Principal's Corner: Parent Updates & Reminders
Dear Panda Families:
As you already know, Fulton County Schools (FCS) has set target dates for returning to face-to-face instruction through a measured “phased in” approach.
We are currently headed into Face to Face reopening which begins Oct 14 for full-time in-person instruction five days a week (grades Prek-5th).
I want to thank you for selecting your child’s participation for the upcoming phases and completing the survey with us.
As we are preparing for our Pandas to return, safety and flexibility are of the upmost importance. This school year will look and feel different in many ways as we strive to keep our students and staff safe while providing quality instruction. Our teachers will be providing instruction for students reporting face to face and for those remotely learning. With this in mind, here are things that you need to know.
After October 14th, schools will need to offer classes in Remote Learning and classes in Face To Face. As I learn the number of students in each group, I will need to reshuffle their teachers to allow some teachers to teach Remote Learning, some teachers to teach Face To Face and others to teach a mixed schedule. This reshuffling will depend on 1) the number of students choosing each model, 2) the qualifications of teachers at Brookview and 3) the size of the course enrollment.
I understand that some families want to keep their child with their current teacher(s) and others want to change teachers. Just like at the start of any school year, our team will do our best to match students with the teachers at Brookview who are qualified and excited to teach both the subject and in the learning environment the family has selected.
Based on your survey responses, there will be some scheduling/teacher changes for students based on instructional needs and safety considerations. There are three instructional models that Fulton County Schools will implement this semester. These models include:
Separated model – the teacher teaches either Face to Face or Remote ALL DAY;
Segmented model – the teacher teaches a couple of periods face to face and a couple of periods Remote throughout the day; or
Simultaneous model – the teacher teachers both students Face and face and remote at the same time.
Consequently, we are working tirelessly, to solidify the changes in class schedules based on the instructional model needed for each grade. You will be notified of class/teacher changes by October 9, 2020. It is imperative that we have working parent/guardian phone numbers and email addresses on file for all enrolled students. Please rest assured, grade levels will collaboratively plan to ensure a seamless transition for our students.
Additionally, if you elected for your child(ren) to return to face to face instruction, please be reminded class sizes have NOT been reduced. Therefore, we will do our best to socially distance in the classrooms, transitioning in the hallways, etc. We will not be honoring parent classroom requests. Our student assignments will be based on data, no exceptions. Please note, your child(ren)’s safety is of the upmost importance.
Thus, here are a few reminders that I want to make sure you are aware of:
- Masks are required for all students and employees.
- Per the new CDC guidelines, vented masks (with built in filters/vents) are NOT allowed.
- Visitors are not allowed in the building.
- Parents will not be allowed to drop students off to class.
- We ask that you stay inside your car during arrival and dismissal to ensure social distancing and safety.
- Please have your child bring his or her book bag, school supplies, and charged laptops (grades 2-5 only) daily.
- Students will not be allowed to share materials.
- Please observe for COVID related symptoms prior to sending your child to school (ex. Take their temp, make sure they don’t have any flu like symptoms, upset stomach, etc.). If you see any of these symptoms, please keep your child(ren) at home and contact your child(ren)’s teacher.
- For pre-k-2nd grade parents only: Please make sure you are on time for dismissal, present at the bus stop when your child is picked up and dropped off, and you must accompany your walker(s) to and from school.
- During face to face instruction, your child(ren) will participate in Special area classes such as art, music, S.T.R.E.A.M., and P.E. Please make sure your child has appropriate shoes and clothing for P.E.
- Please don’t forget to send a labeled water bottle with your child. Water fountains will not be used due to CDC safety recommendations.
Food Stops and Distribution
Students attending school face-to-face will continue to receive free meals during their school’s scheduled mealtimes. FREE Meal Kit Distribution will continue at Curbside Pick-Up locations throughout the district! Curbside Pick-Up will be will continue on Wednesdays. Please note the NEW Meal Kit Distribution time! Assistant Principal's Corner
Greetings Panda Family!
Our staff has been super excited to have our students back in the building! As we continue to practice safety for all students with wearing face covering and social distancing, I want to remind parents of our attendance policy.
Parents, if students have been assigned Face to Face, students MUST attend school. If your Face to Face student does NOT attend school and participate in Remote Learning, your student will be marked absent. Unfortunately, this will impact your student’s attendance which permanently goes on the student’s record. Please make sure that your student is present!
If you have any questions or concerns, please call me, Dr. Smith, at 470-254-8020. Now let’s all continue to have a peaceful, pAWsitive, and productive year!
Sincerely,
Dr. Smith

Brookview Parent & Family Engagement Plan and School-Family Compacts
Greetings Parents and Families,
Attached below, you will find our school wide Parental and Family Engagement Policy, which has been developed jointly with, and agreed on with, parents of children participating in the Title I, Part A programs. This policy was adopted by Brookview Elementary School on October 2, 2020 and will be in effect for the period of 2020-2021 school year. Brookview Elementary will distribute this policy to all parents of participating Title I, Part A children on or before October 15, 2020 and will be placed on the school website.
Also attached you will find Brookview's School-Family Compact, which was jointly developed by our teachers and parents. The compact outlines the shared responsibilities of parents, students, teachers, and administrators for student academic achievement. The compact also outlines how the school and parents will develop a partnership for student success. School-Family compacts will be placed on the school website at the beginning of the year.
Please review this information with your student(s).
