Leader in Me is WHO WE ARE!
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we continuously heard "We're Better Together!" Well this is so true. BES students are learning how to work well in groups and how to build off of the strength of others.
How do you synergize at home? Could it be to work on chores together so that you will finish faster?
Please see below a few updates from our Faculty/Staff Leader in Me Action Teams.
Achieve Your Goals Action Team
The Blue Jay staff is participating in Round 2 of the Personal WIG Challenge. Staff members who chose to participate set Personal WIGs to track for the next 6 weeks. Staff members keep a public scoreboard and share how they track their lead measures with students each week. Our BES Data Crunchers collect and share data on our school wide scoreboard every Monday! Blue Jay staff members are focusing on the WILDLY IMPORTANT!
BES Leaders of the Month will be recognized in mid March. Students who exhibited Habit 5, Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood, were nominated by classmates and teachers from each homeroom. For recognition, Leaders of the Month will receive a special Leader of the Month Blue Jay Uniform shirt that can be worn on any day to school. In April students and teachers will be looking for LEADERS who exhibit Habit 6, Synergize!
Grade level teams will be celebrating students who met their 3rd 9 weeks ELA, Math, and Behavior WIGS during the week of March 15th. Keep up the great work #goalgetters
The Leadership Environment Team would like to thank our bus drivers that have represented the School as our Buses of the month. We have been honoring two buses each month since October, they have received a special magnet that has been placed on the bus during their month in which we recognized the care it takes to transport our leaders to and from school each and every day!
The committee is working diligently on Blandford Elementary School's first ever virtual Leader Day. This program will be available for families to watch at home and will be located on the school's website and social media platforms
We are proud of the students for learning the 8 Habits during the first half of the school year. Now students are applying what they learned and taking turns showing their leadership skills, by finding their voice during student lead Monday Morning Meetings.
Teachers and students are synergizing together to celebrate their WIGS during Fab Fridays.
Our committee is grateful for the overwhelming response of generosity that we have received through our monthly service projects and will continue the service projects through May. Kindergarten will be leading April's service project, which is donating gently used toys to the Manna House Ministries. Pre-K will be leading May's service project, which is donating Socks to "Seniors.'
Teachers and students are enjoying applying the 8 Habits into their daily curriculum lessons to integrate approaches to learning.
We are excited about new student leadership opportunities at BES!
Look for the 1st Edition of our Soaring Newspaper to be released this month! This is produced by students in grades 3-5.
The BES Nesting Crew has started working hard to keep our Blue Jay Nest neat and tidy! These leaders help lost items get back to their owners or to the Lost and Found area for safe keeping.
Our team is excited to share that Leadership Portfolios are fully implemented. Our students are busy tracking their Wildly Important Goals (WIGS). The leadership portfolios allow our students an opportunity to take initiative and responsibility for their own learning.
Students will be setting new goals for themselves at the beginning of the new nine weeks.
The Adult Learning Action Team is excited to introduce “Staff of the Month” as part of our Leader in Me initiative. Our staff has been working hard to teach and model the 7 habits. We think it's a great time to start recognizing staff members who exemplify the habits! Starting in April, we will be recognizing staff members. To tie in the habits, we will focus on a habit each month.
The Adult Action team is in the process of reaching community stakeholders. Identified stakeholders will be invited to our upcoming Leader Day. We are excited to partner with businesses in our community.
Our next LIM Parent Night is April 15th at 7:00. Please make plans to join the meeting.

In March, the students will be learning about different types of careers and being successful as we gear up for the last nine weeks. These lessons will be taught during classroom guidance. With the last 9 weeks quickly approaching, I have been seeing more students with friendship issues. I wanted parents to be aware so that this can be a topic in your homes. In addition, if you need supplies or additional resources, please let me know.
