Teacher-Student Conference: Could it make a difference in your classroom?
We have often talked about increasing the amount of student-student talk in our classrooms. Are you taking time to increase the amount of teacher-student talk in terms of individual mini-conferences? How might this change your approach with your students and their learning? Following are some questions you might consider asking your students:
- How often do you feel in charge of your own learning? How can I help you better take charge of your learning in [subject]?
- How comfortable do you feel with the reading materials I provide in class? (too challenging, too easy, or just right)?
- How might I better model the writing process for you?
- What’s your favorite way we learn new math concepts and why?
- How comfortable are you with sharing your ideas with classmates? Why do you think that is? How can we help?
- What is one thing you wish I would change in this class?
Student Led Conferences Thursday 4:30-6:30
Remember to decide with your academic team how you will divide up the students so that we can easily accommodate them and their parents. We will need to know how each team has divided their students so that when parents arrive we can direct them to the proper teacher.
We are looking forward to a great turnout. Please let us know if there is anything with which we can assist you.

Dress Code
It does take some time for students to fall in line and be totally in compliance, but consistency, just as in your classroom management procedures, is key.
