A Message from our Principal...
Dear Jefferson Families;
I hope that you and your family members are enjoying this beautiful Spring! The sunshine sure is welcome, but not as welcome as the smiling eyes of our students whether they are in the building or on zoom! Can you believe that after today we have only 28 school days left in this 2020-2021 school year? It seems as though we’ve just begun the year, but in reality, students and staff have been working very hard all year, especially working on their reading and math lessons for 4th and 5th grades. Through many challenges, they have been persistent in mastering the essential learning targets. This perseverance is an important skill and a growth mind-set that always pays off in the long term.
We want to encourage our students to keep up their hard work, and to keep persevering, all the way to the end of the school year. Please let us know what we can do to help your child to stay focused and interested in school throughout this last month. We will be doing quite a bit of testing in the next few weeks. Most of these tests are required by the US Department of Education. Teachers are working to make each test fit into the regular curriculum and to be thought about as just another aspect of learning. While we want students to do their best on these snapshots of their learning journey, we also do not want them to be stressed out over them. We hope students will take these tests in stride. Please feel free to call your child’s teacher, or me, if you have any questions or concerns regarding standardized testing.
Please keep in touch. I want to know how you think Jefferson School is meeting your child’s needs and your expectations. Your partnership with us helps us to grow.
Have a great weekend,
Most Sincerely,
Dr. Judy Floeter

Assessment Schedule
Attendance
What a great start to 4th quarter it has been! We want nothing more than to finish out the school year stronger than ever.
Please Remember:
- Our school day is shorter than normal so that means missing one session will result in an absence.
- Attendance will also be taken during the remote time for all students between 2-3pm.
- It is important to make every effort to have students in attendance Monday-Friday whether you have chosen to remain remote or to return to in person learning. Students who have chosen to attend in person should only be attending remotely if they are required to quarantine and feel well enough to do so. Otherwise, in person students should be physically coming to school every day.
We work hard to closely monitor attendance as it has a direct effect on student performance. Please contact us if there is any way that we can help support your student.
Bee Mindful...
Jefferson Families,
What a wild year! Jefferson students have demonstrated a lot of resilience with the challenging environment we find ourselves in, and we couldn't be prouder of them. It's hard to believe we only have six weeks left to finish this school year. With that in mind, we wanted to share an article that offers 50 ideas to finish the school year off strong.

Spring into Reading with Congresswoman Lauren Underwood
How does it work? Students should have a parent or guardian complete this form giving the student permission to participate. Congresswoman Underwood's Office will send the parent or guardian a book log sheet and additional information including deadlines and information on how to submit the student's finished book log to the office.
Students will have until the end of June to read at least 10 books. All participants will be invited to a special celebration with the Congresswoman in the summer and receive a small prize for their participation. The student in each grade who reads the most books will receive a special recognition from the Congresswoman!
How can you share? Please feel free to share this opportunity with anyone you think might be interested in participating. Below is a link to the reading program page that has the sign up links as well as facebook post from the Congresswoman if you would like to share.
