From MPS director of athletics Chad Davis:

Good afternoon! I hope that everyone had a great Easter weekend with family and friends. This week, as my 10 year old daughter would say, is "CRA-CRA", and is jammed packed with athletic events. Great thing for our kids, coaches, and Wardog fans! I hope you can make it out to see our kids compete this week!

COVID19 Event Update

Our county remained in Orange Level 1 for this week. A mask or face covering is encouraged for everyone in attendance at any Miami Athletics event upon entry and in the concession areas, but is not mandatory. We also encourage everyone to practice safe social distancing while in attendance at any Miami Athletics event.

Wardog Baseball will play at home today vs. Vinita at 5:00pm. There will only be one game played today (no JV game). Vinita does not have enough players for a second game. On Tuesday (4/6/21) the Dogs will travel to Vinita for another 5:00pm game (second game will be confirmed sometime tomorrow). Then on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday they will compete in the annual Mickey Mantle Classic hosted by Commerce. This year we will host games at Joe Pollock Field all three days. The first game for the Dogs will be on Thursday (4/8/21) vs. Wichita at Noon at Joe Pollock Field. Games on Friday and Saturday will depend on bracket play.

The JH Baseball team will see action today and tomorrow. They will travel to Vinita today for games starting at 5:00pm, and will turn around on Tuesday (4/6/21) and host Vinita at 5:00pm for two more games. They were scheduled to play again this Thursday vs. Tahlequah but that game has been canceled (potential make up date is TBD).

Lady Wardog and Wardog Soccer will be back at home tomorrow (4/6/21) as they host Cascia Hall for district games. The girls game will start at 5:00pm, and the boys game will follow at approximately 7:00pm. Both teams will play again this Friday (4/9/21) but will play two different teams. The girls will play at Wright Christian at 5:00pm. The boys will play at Tulsa McLain starting at 6:30pm. The reason for the separate games is because Tulsa McLain's girls soccer team did not have enough to complete a team for the season.

We will host the Miami Invitational Large School Track meet (class 3A and up) this Tuesday (4/6/21) at Craig Field starting at 10:00am. Both our girls and boys track high school track teams will compete in this meet. On Thursday (4/8/21) will host the small school meet (class 2A and down) at Craig Field at 10:00am. Some high school track athletes will help run the meet on Thursday. They will finish their week at the Vinita Invitational on Saturday starting at 10:00am.

The JH track team will travel to Vinita this Saturday (4/10/21) to compete in the Vinita JH Invitational meet starting at 10:00am. This meet is for grades 7th, 8th, and 9th.

No tournaments this week for our HS Boys Golf Team. They are scheduled to compete next in the Oologah Invitational at the Owasso Golf & Athletic Club on April 12th at 9:00am.

The Lady Wardog Golf team are currently competing in the Coweta Invitational at Indian Springs Golf Course in Broken Arrow. The tournament teed off at 9:00am this morning. They will be in action again this Wednesday (4/7/21) at their home course when they host the Miami HS Girls Invitational Golf Tournament at Peoria Ridge Golf Course starting at 9:00am.

Lady Wardog Tennis will play in the Grove Tournament held at the Pryor Tennis Center (Pryor, OK.) tomorrow (4/6/21) starting at 8:30am.

Wardog Tennis will play in the Grove Tournament held at the Pryor Tennis Center in Pryor on Thursday (4/8/21) starting at 8:30am.

WARDOG CLUB information

The Wardog Club was formed to help offset the expenses for our athletes who compete and win championships for the Miami Wardogs. Its members are friends, alumni, and advocates of Miami Public Schools who recognize the value of athletics and how they impact all members of the Wardog community. Wardog Club donations help with championship rings, banners, and apparel. These donations will also positively affect facility upgrades, academic resources, and future scholarship opportunities for our senior student-athletes. Each member of the Wardog Club is impactful to all of our student-athletes in all sports, and their contribution has a direct impact on the lives of our student-athletes. For more information on how to join, contact director of athletics Chad Davis at 918-542-8455 or via email at cdavis@miamip.net. Thank you for your support of our Wardog Champions!

Keep up with Wardog Athletics!

If you are not doing so already, I encourage you to follow Wardog Athletics on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/WardogAthletics), and on Twitter (@WardogAthletics). This newsletter will continue to go out weekly with updates as well. On occasion, we also may send out updates through our district one call system. We will continue to update everyone through our social media pages on any changes to our athletic schedule due to inclement weather or COVID19.

Thank you for your support of Wardog Athletics! I hope everyone has a great week!
