Quarter 3 Material Pickup

If you have not yet picked up your child's 3rd quarter materials, please come to the front door of Smithfield and alert the staff that you are there to pick up the materials. All students (K-5) need the materials to successfully complete the required instruction.

Online Learning- Camera On

In order to monitor student engagement and understanding, we ask that student cameras remain on during online instruction. It is extremely difficult to effectively teach with only seeing a "black box" on Zoom. We want to make sure students are participating, understanding new content, and engaged. Please ensure your child is aware of this request as well.

If there is a reason why your child's camera will not be turned on during remote instruction, please email the classroom teacher so they are aware.

Thank you for your help and partnership!

Show your School Spirit!

Calling all Dolphins! Friday, January 15th is COLLEGE SPIRIT DAY! Please wear spirit wear or colors of your favorite college.

Smithfield Parent Book Club

During virtual learning, have you found yourself asking- “Am I helping my child too much?” or “Am I not helping my child enough?” Join with Smithfield parents and the school psychologist to study the book How to Raise an Adult: Break Free of the Overparenting Trap and Prepare Your Kid for Success. If you are interested or have questions, contact Kay Carreira at

Smithfield Community Blessings

BLESSED beyond measure is the first thing that comes to mind when we think about the community we serve; we LOVE our students and stakeholders. This holiday season Smithfield was reminded daily of the wonderful community members that are willing to join our school and do "whatever it takes" to serve our families. We cannot thank you all enough for tremendous work and thought you all put in to help Smithfield families.

Families were blessed with holiday support, coats, clothes, food, furniture, and so much more. The thankful hearts, tears, joy, and relief each family felt is impossible to put into words, but we can say you all have made a BIG difference, every little bit helps, and we are grateful for everything.

Free TCRWP Parent & Caregiver Workshop

Thursday, January 28, 1-3 PM Eastern Time

Join expert Teachers College Reading and Writing Project staff at our upcoming workshop day for parents and caregivers of students in grades K-8. Learn more about ways to support your child’s literacy education at home, what or how they are learning in school, how to best engage in home literacy projects, and more.

These days are typically 2-3 hours long, composed of a series of 15-minute small-group presentations. Parents and caregivers can choose the workshops that match their needs and are free to come for one workshop or many. The schedule of workshops will be made available prior to the event. These sessions are offered live and are not recorded for later viewing.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

South Meck Food Pantry

Many thanks to everyone that volunteered and donated to the food drive for South Meck, Quail Hollow and Smithfield as we closed out 2020 and began our 2021 efforts. We have distributed over 3300 weeks of food since March of 2020 and continue to be amazed by your support. We have many opportunities for bulk shopping and volunteering as we look at the rest of January. Please check out our sign up genius links to see how you can help. We have spent nearly all of our funds and are very low on ALL items, we would appreciate all donations this coming Mon – Wed from 10:30-12:30 at the front office circle of South Meck (8900 Park Rd). You can leave donations on the red benches under the E building portico if someone is not outside. You may also contribute $ through Venmo @QHMS-ptsa.
