Department Updates
The Artist's Palette - Butler Art News
First grade students looked at the artwork of Paul Klee to inspire these shape-filled cat portraits. They drew their cats shape by shape and then painted them with bright vibrant colors.
Fifth grade artists created watercolor crystal paintings. They drew their multi-faceted forms, and then used a wet-on-wet watercolor technique that makes the crystals look as though they are lit from within!
The Library Corner - Butler Library Updates
First grade students are learning and practicing alphabetical order in the Butler Library. Knowing alphabetical order helps all our students learn how to navigate the library and locate the books they want to read. Once students become familiar with how books are organized in the Butler Library, they can apply that knowledge when visiting and using other libraries, such as the public library and, eventually, our CB secondary schools.
The Music Scene - Butler Music News
Rehearsals for 5th and 6th grades production of Annie Jr have begun! Mark you calendars for March 26 and 27 to come see our Butler students shine in this musical production!
Quest Explorations
Have you ever wanted to direct your own movie? Did you know that most movies are filmed in front of a green screen? Fourth Grade Students started the year off with a mini unit focused on green screen technology. The goal of the unit was for students to learn how to layer images and videos. The unit ended with students creating a short movie. Green screen technology is a great, fun way for students to show their understanding of a topic. Now these movie directors are moving on to a unit focused on engineering a prosthetic leg.
Butler Bear Physical Education News
Students in all grades, K-6, are working on ball skills in physical education this month. K-2 will practice rolling, throwing, kicking and dribbling. Students in 3rd-6th grade will continue to practice skills learned in the younger grades and incorporate those skills, along with strategy, into team games.
From the Health Office
If your child is in grades 2, 5, or 6 you should have received a form, either dental or physical, to have completed for next school year. Please keep a copy for your records prior to submitting them to our office. These forms are due by Oct 15th - all students must have their form on file by 10/15 or your child's availability for any/all field trips will be in jeopardy - even if scheduled after this date.
Also, all screenings have been completed for this school year. You can find your child’s BMI (Body Mass Index) on parent portal.
Should you have any questions please contact the health room at 267-893-4265.
