Job Shadow and Internship Hosts Needed
Dear New Tech Parents,
We are looking for help in providing job shadowing experiences for our junior and senior learners. As part of our graduation requirements learners participate in career exploration by shadowing professionals in an occupation of their choice. Learners and their families are primarily responsible for finding these opportunities but several have requested help in this process.
If you, or someone you know, would be willing to host a learner for 10 to 15 hours at your place of business, please let me know! We have students interested in a variety of careers, so any occupation could be a possibility for a valuable experience for a learner. In particular, we have a large number of learners who want to shadow in the areas of programming or game design, engineering, medicine, law, graphic design, marketing, business/finance and psychology. Thank you for your support as we work to ensure our graduates are college and career ready.

Please remember that you must fill out the district background check in advance to help!!!! Networking Olympics is the first big bonding day on campus for our Network Teams. It's like a field day but way more fun and with some indoor activities!
You can get a head start and join PTSO for next school year now! You can also donate money to write a check (our main PTSO fundraiser). Please note, the school supply fee did not include a PTSO membership.
We utilize a lot of parents each year to evaluate projects, work events, or come in as guest speakers. Please make sure you take the time to fill out this form so that we can use you as needed this year!
Reminder: No Lunch Delivery Services
Thank you!
AP Exam Ordering ****New Process For This Year****
In person collection dates are:
September 16th-20th
October 28th- 31st
Online payment goes live September 3rd-October 31st.
Schoolpay will be available starting in September for payments and will stay open through October 31st. https://www.schoolpay.com/login/
The first thing to note is that College Board has created online resources for learners to access materials that enhance their work in classes. All AP facilitators will be sharing join codes with their learners this week to help them get set up in that system. Before learners are able to join classes though, they will need to sign up for or remember their myap college board account. Information on how to access or set up their accounts is available here.
When learners join with the class codes online, they will need to select whether they intend to take the test. Learners are able to change their minds on that question, but this will give us a good head count of who is actually planning on taking the AP exam.
Registering and Paying For Exams
Regular registration ends on October 31st. The fee to take the test is $94 and can be paid online using SchoolPay or in person on designated dates (Dates will be posted at the beginning of September and will include some dates in September and October). We can not separate the fee into different payments and will need to collect the entire fee for each exam at one time. If you need assistance with payment for financial reasons, please let us know. Please understand we will not be able to give refunds after October 31st. Learners who register for exams after October 31st will have to pay an additional $40 for registration and must do so by March 4th. I know that is a steep late fee but that is what College Board assesses us for a late fee.

Application Process and Forms
A student with a documented disability may be eligible for accommodations on College Board tests (SAT, SAT Subject Tests, PSAT, and AP exams) and the ACT. The school does not automatically apply for students to receive accommodations, but will assist families once the request is made to begin the process of applying for accommodations if their child is eligible for Section 504 or SPED. Parents should initiate the process by visiting our information page located on the New Tech High Website, under Announcements:
If you have any questions regarding testing accommodations, please contact Ms. Shaikh, Assistant Principal at rshaikh@coppellisd.com.
