#You'veGotAFriendInMe
WELCOME BACK & HAPPY FALL!
This year is off to a wonderful start. Our students have been busy getting to know each other and the routines of their classrooms. It is such a joy to watch how quickly the students come together as one big team.
Our building theme this year is "You've Got a Friend in Me" and our school-wide expectations are:
Be Safe
Be Responsible
Be Respectful
I am looking forward to a year filled with laughter, learning, collaboration, and supporting one another in all that we do.

ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
Thank you Glendale families for your continued patience with our arrival & dismissal procedures this year. We are constantly trying to find ways to improve the efficiency of this process.
MORNING ARRIVAL:
All K-5 students that are dropped off or walk should now go to the lower level doors. All students should arrive to school at 9:10 am. There will not be supervision for students who arrive before 9:00 as our teachers are in meetings. Kid’s Co. is available for families that need supervision before 9:00. You will need to register your student with Kid’s Co. At 9:00 the doors will open and students can come in to the lower level and sit by their grade level sign until dismissal to the classrooms at 9:10.
Buses drop students off on the upper level parking lot. For students that are arriving late after 9:20am, parents will need to park in the upper parking lot and accompany their student in to the main office to sign them in for the day. The lower level doors will be locked at 9:20am.
END OF DAY DISMISSAL:
Buses will pick up students in the upper level parking lot. All K-5 students that are picked up or walk will be in the lower level parking lot.
PICK UP IN OFFICE: For safety reasons, there is NO PARKING IN UPPER LOT BETWEEN 3:30pm- 4:05pm. IT IS STRICTLY FOR BUS & DISTRICT TRANSPORTATION VAN USE ONLY! If you are picking your child up at the end of the day in the office, we ask that you please park in the LOWER LOT and walk up the hill to come in and sign them out. Unless your child has an appointment, we will begin our dismissal for all students at 3:45pm.
**REMINDER: Connelly Parkway is intended for overflow parking for special events at Glendale, NOT daily pick up parking.
PICK UP IN CAR LINE: Please have your sign ready & visible in the window until your student(s) is in the car. When arriving in the parking lot, always stay to the right and form only one line- please follow the arrows and stay inside the painted pick up lane.
STUDENTS BEING BUCKLED IN CARSEATS: Once your child gets in the car, we ask that you please pull all the way to the end of the sidewalk near the lower level exit/stop sign to assist them in order to keep the line moving.
Kids Co. is available if you need care for your student after 4:00pm. If there is an emergency and you are going to be late, please notify the office and your student will be waiting in the front office. You will need to come in and sign them out.
If you have any questions, feel free to call the main office at 952.226.0200. If needed, the Kids Company phone number is 952.226.0090. Again, our main goal is to have a safe process to get our valuable students here and back home every day. Thank you for your cooperation!

HELP FEED GLEN!!
Hello Wonderful Glendale Families!
Glen, a tiger salamander, is one of our pets at Glendale. Glen is an easy pet to care for, however, we will need some help with the donation of crickets. twelve crickets would be a typical meal about once a week. We are looking for families to donate this meal every Monday. Some of the dates fall on a Tuesday if there is no school on a Monday. If you are able to help, please sign up! You can bring your "meal" to the office and our Junior Naturalists along with your child will feed our school pet!
Thank you in advance for all of your support and donations!

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
You may have noticed a Box Tops for Education label on some products you purchase. Box Tops for Education is a program where schools can earn money when families complete their shopping along with a few easy steps. Each Box Top is worth $.10 and schools can use Box Tops cash to buy whatever they need. There are hundreds of eligible food, food storage, paper and undergarment products.
The company that sponsors Box Tops is transitioning to an online only program. The updated program is convenient, easy and allows chances for the school to earn more money. To learn more, watch this 44 second video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hh94b2BvFK4&feature=youtu.be
In the past, many products had a Box Top label families could clip and submit to the school. If the label indicates ‘No More Clipping’, scan the receipt using the new Box Top app. Here are the steps to get started:
· Download the Box Tops for Education app and sign up for free. Designate Glendale Elementary School as your school of choice.
·Within two weeks of purchase, use the app to scan your receipts.
· Questions? Go to BTFE.com
Clipping and submitting unexpired Box Tops is still an option until the program is fully transitioned. For details go to the Glendale Elementary website > PTC > Helping Glendale > Fundraising.

SPAN
SPAN is the Synergy/SAGE Parent Action Network. We are also known as the Prior Lake-Savage Chapter of the MN Council for the Gifted and Talented (MCGT). Our mission is to support and advocate for academically advanced students, their parents, and their educators. SPAN hosts meetings featuring speakers and specific discussion topics throughout the school year. Our first meeting will take place on Tuesday October 8 at 7pm in the WestWood Elementary Media Center (5370 WestWood Dr. SE; Prior Lake, MN 55372), featuring former MCGT president and gifted consultant Carol Malueg to speak on advocacy for gifted kids in schools and beyond. All are welcome.
In addition, we will be hosting several informal “coffee” meetings during the school year where anyone can stop by to talk with SPAN Board members who have “been there” about any questions/concerns you have related to your child. If you have questions or would like to be placed on our email list, please email Apryl at span.priorlake@gmail.com. See all of our meeting dates on our website www.mcgt.net/priorlake .
We are also in need of Board members. The SPAN vice president position is currently vacant, and the president and treasurer positions will be available for the 2020-21 school year. Please contact us for more information!
