WeMoCo Field Trip
Dear Student and Parent/Guardian,
On Friday, December 9th, we will be taking a group of Arcadia sophomores to visit the WEMOCO Career and Technical Education Center in Spencerport. WEMOCO offers engaging courses for students with both hands-on learning and classroom instruction to learn about a particular career path. WEMOCO is available to juniors and seniors who are on track to graduate and have a good attendance record. Although WEMOCO is not located in the Greece District, transportation will be provided to the students enrolled in a WEMOCO program. Courses taken at WEMOCO are credit- bearing and will be reflected on report cards and transcripts.
Students interested in going on the field trip should be aware of the following:
Please review the list of WEMOCO courses on the back of this letter. You may read the course descriptions by visiting https://www.monroe2boces.org/WEMOCO.aspx
All students will visit two courses while on the WEMOCO trip. The sooner the completed registration/permission forms are returned to the College and Career Center, the higher the chances are of interested students going on the trip and getting their 1st and 2nd choices.
Students cannot enroll in a WEMOCO program without a visit/tour to the campus. Students interested in enrolling in a WEMOCO program for next school year should let their school counselor know after the field trip during your course selection meeting.
See your school counselor with any additional questions.
*Greece students are not eligible to enroll in the culinary arts program at WEMOCO. Please do not select this as one of the two courses you would like to visit. A Culinary Pathway is offered within the district. If you are interested in the Culinary Pathway through Greece, please inform your school counselor during your course selection meeting.*
Copies of this letter and the registration/permission form are located in the College and Career Center, which is in the Library. The registration/permission form needs to be completed and returned to the College and Career Center no later than Friday, November 18th. For several reasons, we will not accept late permission slips.

Project Based Learning at Arcadia!
BIG THANKS to Ms. Sarah Hodgson, Mr. Ryan Johnson, and Ms. Meg Kelly
The students engaged in a project based learning unit and field trip. They loved it and did a great job!!! The unit consisted of a theme of identity and culture.
- Students used the culture tree from Z. Hammond's book early on to help them look at their individual identities.
- Students then viewed artwork from a current exhibit at Rochester's MAG for a "See, Think, Wonder"
- Students then followed this up with create their own artwork to reflect their cultural identities. Thank you Ms. Kelly for supporting the students in a cross-curricular project!
- Students engaged in learning art from different cultures using PBL's "Step Inside: Perceive, Know About, Care About '' protocol.
