The International Baccalaureate Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end, the organization works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment.

The programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

Kindergarten, Planner 1: Who We Are (continued)

Kindergarten had community helpers visit our school and tell us important things they do to help the community! Check them out!

First Grade, Planner 2: Sharing the Planet

First graders learned about different bodies of water and landforms found in our city and around the world. The students chose the landforms they wanted to build using play-doh. They had to identify the landforms they made and then identify the body of water as salt or freshwater.
First grade also learned about patterns found in nature. We started this unit out letting the students build and explain their own patterns.

Second Grade, Planner 2: Where We are in Place and Time

The second grade students learned about the phases of the moon, and then they were able to recreate the phases using vanilla wafers to help demonstrate their knowledge. We covered vocabulary such as waxing (growing larger) and waning (growing smaller). This is just one of the several natural cycles we covered in this planner.

Third Grade, Planner 2: How We Express Ourselves

Fourth Grade, Planner 2: How We Express Ourselves

The students had to use self-management, communication, and social skills in order to work in groups to create a Salt Dough Map of Texas. They bridged together their various perspectives of Texas to structure and form a finished product. The students exhibited learner profiles a risk-taker, balanced, and a thinker.
