-A Bird's Eye View-
September 30, 2019
Your Tweetcher for the week of 9/23 was......Cassie Foster
Shout-out to first year teacher, Cassie Foster who did just that recently. Cassie is one of two Health Occupations instructors at CTS, and she recently took some great pictures showcasing how her students were given the opportunity to apply their classroom learning at the Health Fairs being held across our district.
Way to go Cassie!
Your Tweetcher for the week of 9/30 is.....Tabitha Jones
Tabitha doesn't have a classroom Twitter account, but she didn't let that stop her from sharing her classroom story. Tabitha emailed pictures and a summary of the learning that was going on in the pictures. Tabitha also did two other things that are a good reminder to all of us! She double-checked to see if any of the students in the pictures were on the "do not photograph" list and she also caught a picture that didn't represent a student in the best light. A good reminder to always check and make sure that students are not giving inappropriate hand signs and that their clothing is covering everything that needs to be covered :)!
Thanks for helping us share our story, Tabitha!

Hello CSD!
I wanted to give a shoutout to our buildings' secretaries who have had to manage substitute-finding for so many years. Throughout the transition to our new substitute management software, I have come to realize the hard work they have put in. They have built relationships with our subs; knowing how to coerce a sub to come in when they really didn't want to. Not only did your secretaries want to find a sub for a room, but they wanted to find the 'right' sub. Kelly Lasswell, Mary Goucher, Robin Wells, Lori Watson, Shelley Harreslon, Kim Greer and Paula Jones: thank you for all your hard work with substitute management.
We are all really excited about our new sub management software, Absence Management. I've had positive feedback from our substitutes and our secretaries. And I do believe this is a great move for our district!
I know there have been a few hiccups with access, so please reach out to me if you are having trouble setting up your account. Remember, this new software takes the place of entering leave in the SISFin portal. ALL leave, even if it doesn't require a sub, needs to be entered through Absence Management. Also remember, entering in your leave drives sub finding. The earlier an absence is entered, the better. This is for leave beginning October 1st and beyond.
At the bottom of the newsletter you will also find instructions regarding the Frontline Mobile App. You will need our district code: 7354 to activate the app. Please read through the instructions and holler if you have any questions.
Thanks!
Emily
GET TO KNOW......NATHAN JOHNSON
*Tell us what you do in the CSD, how long you have been here and why you enjoy being a Cardinal.
This is my 9th year teaching in the Clinton School District. I am currently the MO Options/Credit Recovery teacher for the high school, as well as the CHS Cross Country and Track coach. The reason I love being a Cardinal is because it feels like home to me. The culture and atmosphere the staff and students radiate is exactly what I love the most. It feels like I have always been a part of this family.....like I graduated from here. I love coming to work everyday working with our kids and seeing them grow. We as teachers get the opportunity to not only make an impact at school, but also help build their character that they will have for the rest of their lives.
*Tell us a little bit about your family/where you are from.
I am from Northern California and was adopted when I was 15 years old. I then moved to Arkansas where I graduated from Alma High School in 2004. My wife Jessica Johnson is in her 10th year as a teacher for the district as one of the Early Childhood teachers. My son Rowan is 4 years old and also attends the Early Childhood Center. I have three dogs Winston (Goldendoodle), Oliver (Siberian Husky), and Juniper (English Springer Spaniel). Growing up with little to no family, these 5 are my rock and my world.
Favorite, can't-miss television shows?
Stranger Things
The Last Kingdom
The Ranch
The 100
What are 3 things people would be surprised to know about you?
1) I ran the 800m and 1600m for Nike's International Team and got to travel the world to race in Mexico, England, Germany, and Switzerland. I was also in the 2004 Olympic Trials in Sacramento, California.
2) I love playing the guitar and singing.
3) My wife Jessica was my first girlfriend and we have been together for 15 years.
If you were to write a book about your career in education, what would the title be?
Understanding Trauma Students from the Inside Out: Building a Lasting Relationship
Name 3 things on your bucket list.
1) Take my son gold-panning with my Grandpa in California like I used to do as a kid
2) Drive my classic car and take my time all the way down Route 66
3) Take my family to Disneyland followed by a trip with my wife to Bermuda
