Message from the Principal
Dear Students and Families,
It is a pleasure to serve your outstanding students. As we shared this year, our goals are focused on student achievement, safety, and social and emotional support. We used these goals to guide our month of September, and we wanted to keep you abreast of some of the systems we have implemented to ensure student success at Eisenhower. We had discipline presentations and assemblies in the first month to go over school-wide expectations. We launched our tardy management system to encourage students to be on time for class. This system will notify guardians when students are late to class via text or email.
Additionally, we started our first advisory lessons focused on student goal-setting. We will continue to use this advisory period to support students socially and emotionally. School-wide incentive program through PBIS was launched in September, students are receiving popcorn and other incentives, and their names will be put up for an opportunity to win a laptop computer at the end of the semester.
Students have been engaging in learning as teachers started the first units and quizzes and tests to identify and learn about what students know and how we can support students. We have had a great first start to the year.
Please review students' grades this week to ensure they are completing assignments and doing well on their quizzes and tests. Parents reach out to teachers, counselors, or administrators if there are student concerns, as we want to be proactive in supporting their individual needs. Lastly, let's continue our partnerships. We are still looking for volunteers.
Sincerely,
Dr. Wilnic Gideon

Big Changes with School Meals for 2022-23
There are big changes happening with school meals for the 2022-23 school year that are important for you to understand. As we continue to return to ‘normal,’ the USDA is no longer able to extend the ‘free meals for all’ waiver we have appreciated the last two school years.
However, our state recently passed a new bill that eases the transition, called the Community Eligibility Provision, or CEP for short. CEP is a free meal service option for schools and school districts who have a 40 percent or higher number of students who qualify for free and reduced lunch.
Everett Public Schools worked hard to group the largest number of schools possible that kept the average percentage above the program threshold and because of this, 18 of our schools qualify for this program, including our school.
This means that breakfast and lunches are free to all students at these schools, regardless of free and reduced lunch qualifications.
Families at these schools will fill out a household income report, which has been emailed directly to you, in place of the free and reduced lunch application. This report is important to provide students access to free waivers and other services.
We are so excited to be able to use this new program to offer free meals to the students in our district who may need some extra support and to all of our students, no matter where they learn, we will continue to offer nutritious and delicious meals that include seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables, scratch-made whole grain foods and lean proteins, with vegetarian and gluten free options too.
There has never been a better time to eat school meals. We look forward to serving you soon.

Volunteer/Chaperone Opportunities and Process
Eisenhower Families - We are excited that with this new year we are able to open up the opportunity for you to become a volunteer or a chaperone at Eisenhower. To help you prepare to be more directly active in our community, we’d like to make you aware of the follow guidelines:
- To begin the process, please reach out to Eisenhower’s Volunteer Coordinator, Michelle Ferguson, at MFerguson@everettsd.org
- Please fill out the volunteer paperwork early. It can take several weeks for the application process to be completed and we don’t want you to have to wait.
- Family members who think they might become a field trip chaperone will need to go through the volunteer application process. Again, please do this as soon as possible so you’re able to help out without delay.
As a volunteer at Ike, you can:
- Help in classrooms (contact your students teacher to learn about what opportunities might be available).
- Help out in the library, nurse’s office, or on the playground.
- Work with small groups of students in reading, writing, or math.
- Help with field trips, parties or special events
- Supervise school dances
- Share your talents and experiences, interests or career in a classroom presentation or career fair or with a school club.
- Help with all-school events
- Become and art or science docent
- Help with the Everett Public Schools Foundation
