Due to an increase in Stop Arm Violations this school year Lago Vista Police Department has assigned officers to follow the buses on their routes. This was implemented yesterday, will continue through next week and will occur periodically throughout the school year.
Our thanks to Lago Vista Police Department for supporting our bus drivers and for helping ensure the safety of all Lago Vista ISD students.
Here at Lago Vista High School, part of our mission is to graduate students with the ability to live and work as compassionate citizens and mature, effective adults. One part of accomplishing this goal is to teach students to use social media in a responsible manner.
Over the past few weeks, a new TikTok challenge has surfaced encouraging students to participate in negative behaviors at school and post videos about them. We have seen some of these behaviors here at LVHS and are taking action to prevent further incidents and are addressing this issue with our entire student body.
As the challenge continues to encourage even more serious negative behaviors, we would like to partner with you all, the parents and guardians of our students, to help us teach our students the seriousness of their decisions should they choose to participate. Please talk to your students about respecting school staff, fellow students, and school property. Thank you for your support.
Seniors: November 3 and 4 (information and sign up will be sent out soon)
Retakes for underclassmen will be Tuesday, November 9.
COVID-19 Response Protocols
Covid Related Attendance Concerns?
Lago Vista ISD students may be eligible to participate in remote conferencing for attendance purposes in the event they are unable to attend face-to-face instruction on campus. Students are eligible for remote conferencing if both of the following requirements are met:
The student is unable to attend school because of a temporary medical condition; AND
The total amount of remote conferencing does not exceed more than 20 instructional days over the entirety of the school year.
A student who is absent due to other reasons not listed above will not qualify to participate in remote conferencing and will be marked absent each day he/she is not physically present in school.
In addition to the two requirements above, one of the following requirements must also be met:
The student’s temporary medical condition is documented by a physician licensed to practice in the United States; OR
The student has a positive test result for a communicable condition (such as COVID-19); OR
The student has been identified as having been in close contact with COVID-19.
Students in remote conferencing instruction will continue to work on class assignments via Canvas, and receive synchronous (live) assistance from a designated Remote Conferencing teacher. To the extent possible, a dedicated certified teacher will be designated to provide remote conferencing throughout the duration of students’ time in this setting, but it will not be the students’ teacher of record. In addition to working on assignments, students will be required to attend daily attendance meetings that will count for the day’s attendance and keep your child within the 90% attendance rule while out temporarily.
You will be notified by ParentLink with specific remote conferencing instructions and Google Meet links if your child qualifies for this temporary opportunity. If your child receives a close contact notification from the school, there will be a link to a form to complete if you wish for your child to participate in remote conferencing.
Want to know more about Canvas?
Check out our district Canvas website to learn more and set up a parent account.
Parking permits are on sale! Permits are $25 and you can pay online through my school bucks or with cash or check made out to LVHS. If you pay online please print out your payment confirmation to present to Mrs. Janson. Students can pick a form from Mrs. Janson to complete before purchasing.
