PSAT 10 and PSAT/NMSQT for sophomores and juniors will be on October 13.

PSAT 9 for freshmen will be on October 14.

Bus Notifications

The district is no longer allowing students to ride to and from school with other students if they are not registered riders on the same bus route. If assigned to the same route they still need a signed note from the parent/guardian or a pass from the campus office for the driver to release them at an unauthorized stop. The district is experiencing a record number in ridership this year and extra students not assigned to that specific route may displace a student who has already registered for transportation in Ascender Parent Portal and been approved to ride.

Due to an increase in Stop Arm Violations this school year Lago Vista Police Department has assigned officers to follow the buses on their routes. This was implemented yesterday, will continue through next week and will occur periodically throughout the school year.

Our thanks to Lago Vista Police Department for supporting our bus drivers and for helping ensure the safety of all Lago Vista ISD students.

TikTok Challenge

Here at Lago Vista High School, part of our mission is to graduate students with the ability to live and work as compassionate citizens and mature, effective adults. One part of accomplishing this goal is to teach students to use social media in a responsible manner.

Over the past few weeks, a new TikTok challenge has surfaced encouraging students to participate in negative behaviors at school and post videos about them. We have seen some of these behaviors here at LVHS and are taking action to prevent further incidents and are addressing this issue with our entire student body.

As the challenge continues to encourage even more serious negative behaviors, we would like to partner with you all, the parents and guardians of our students, to help us teach our students the seriousness of their decisions should they choose to participate. Please talk to your students about respecting school staff, fellow students, and school property. Thank you for your support.

COVID-19 Response Protocols

Lago Vista ISD recognizes that the situation surrounding COVID-19 is ever changing. As the year progresses, LVISD will use the following COVID–19 Response Protocols. We hope these strategies will ensure a safe and healthy learning and working environment for our students and staff. The decision to move from one stage to another will not be based on just one factor. We will continue to work with local and state officials, as well as with legal counsel regarding regulatory authority pertaining to these matters.

Covid Related Attendance Concerns?

Lago Vista ISD students may be eligible to participate in remote conferencing for attendance purposes in the event they are unable to attend face-to-face instruction on campus. Students are eligible for remote conferencing if both of the following requirements are met:

  • The student is unable to attend school because of a temporary medical condition; AND

  • The total amount of remote conferencing does not exceed more than 20 instructional days over the entirety of the school year.

A student who is absent due to other reasons not listed above will not qualify to participate in remote conferencing and will be marked absent each day he/she is not physically present in school.

In addition to the two requirements above, one of the following requirements must also be met:

  • The student’s temporary medical condition is documented by a physician licensed to practice in the United States; OR

  • The student has a positive test result for a communicable condition (such as COVID-19); OR

  • The student has been identified as having been in close contact with COVID-19.

Students in remote conferencing instruction will continue to work on class assignments via Canvas, and receive synchronous (live) assistance from a designated Remote Conferencing teacher. To the extent possible, a dedicated certified teacher will be designated to provide remote conferencing throughout the duration of students’ time in this setting, but it will not be the students’ teacher of record. In addition to working on assignments, students will be required to attend daily attendance meetings that will count for the day’s attendance and keep your child within the 90% attendance rule while out temporarily.

You will be notified by ParentLink with specific remote conferencing instructions and Google Meet links if your child qualifies for this temporary opportunity. If your child receives a close contact notification from the school, there will be a link to a form to complete if you wish for your child to participate in remote conferencing.

Want to know more about Canvas?

Lago Vista High School uses Canvas for delivering assignment information and communicating with our students. LVHS will be using the gradebook function in Canvas to communicate grades with parents and students.

Check out our district Canvas website to learn more and set up a parent account.

Parking Permits

Parking permits are on sale! Permits are $25 and you can pay online through my school bucks or with cash or check made out to LVHS. If you pay online please print out your payment confirmation to present to Mrs. Janson. Students can pick a form from Mrs. Janson to complete before purchasing.

Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan, 2021-2022

Lago Vista ISD is open for face-to-face learning! We want to keep our school community as safe as possible. Face masks are recommended in all district buildings. Please review our Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan for the 2021-2022.
